Fender Decals

Y'all PLEASE try to get this through your heads.

Everybody else doesn't do things because of what somone else might think about it.

Not eveybody who puts a fake decal on a fake bass is trying to fool the public or trying to impress people.

Maybe you guys with the REAL Fenders are hung up on image and other such superficial crap, but we TRUE POSEURS (that was sarcastic) aren't, and if we put a fake decal on a fake bass sometimes it's for the simple reason that we want to. It's pretty obvious that a bunch of you Fender players do so because YOU'RE the posers who care about what other people think.

And all of this immorality, disrespect for the law, etc doesn't cost Fender one gd dime and Fender gets some more free exposure.

Maybe all the TRUE POSEURS can get together and hire Johnny Cochran and he'll set up a class action lawsuit and Fender will pay us for advertising their company.

1) Poseurs, a word I'm sure you think you made up actually means "layers" in french.

2) The law you are breaking isn't a criminal law, no cop will show up at your house and try to arrest you for it. It is a civil law.

3) If you try to sell a bass after you modify it in this way then you are guilty of a fraud.

4) While it is not likely anyone will care if you do this one of the premises of your argument is false.

Fender can lose money because of your actions. The whole point of trademarks and protecting them is for product recognition. Fender labels the products they sell so when people see someone else with one and like it they are inclined to go out and buy one of the same.

If someone sees you playing this bass and tells themself "oh my god that bass sounds like total crap, I never want one of those" then they move in to see what it is and go "OH MAN a fender THOSE SUCK". Then you have in fact cost fender a in your term "a GD dime"

5) Before you go off on your "this isn't even on topic" rant. Look back at the entire thread. You yourself have responded to posting after posting that isn't on topic just like everyone else has. A process I'm sure you are going to repeat once again in response to me.

6) "Johnny Cochran" is dead.

5) The operative word is "responded".

You were "sure" about two, but right about one. You're batting 500, not bad.

I bought this new Squier P Bass recently.

The things that stop me putting a Fender decal on it:

1) I am happy enough with it as a Squier. It's a good bass.

2) Fender have never ever made a bass that looks exactly like this.

3) I have Fender basses if I badly need people to see me using a Fender.

4) I am not so sad as to change the name on a bass to pump my own ego up. It would STILL be a Squier whatever.

5) I refuse to insult anyone else's intelligence by sticking another name on it.

6) Putting another decal on it is misleading people. Whether it is ever sold - or not.

7) Squier deserve the credit for making a good bass. The more good Squiers that are visible, the more credible they will be.

very good post

I make six points and you disagree with one and that gives me a 50% average?

I'll give you the one but I seriously doubt that you knew that you weren't making up the word when you used it. Mr President "Layers".

I changed my mind, again. Instead of being President Poseur I'm the Decal Nazi.

NO FAKE DECAL FOR YOU!!!

man this thread is like Britney Spears....no matter how pointless it is, I keep readin' about it....lol Everytime somethin in the news comes up about Spears (even though I really don't care)....I just have to read about it. Same with this thread. Close it already...

I want to replace all the Honda Accord emblems on my car with BMW badges. Not to pretend it's a Beemer though, just to mock the idea of labels and those that live by them.

that post really hit a nerve with some of these people here. the truth hurts. its not like any of you stand to gain or lose a damn dime by me putting a decal on a bass, so put your cocks away dudes, youre not convincing anybody. if you wanna prove how "loyal" you are to fender, go to GC and drop a grand on a MIA jazz just for the hell of it. but let me assure you, bickering with someone cause they're putting a decal on a bass doesnt make you "loyal". it makes you an overbearingly anal and annoying weirdo. seriously, have any of you thought about how vehemently you are opposed to me doing this and how disproportionate your anger is when compared to the tone and innocent intent of the original post? personality disorders are abundant here at talkbass.

and oh yeah, whoever posted this: this thread is in ENGLISH. who gives a flying **** about what a word means in French. Also, you MUST be in elementary school to not know what that word means LMAO. This is the funniest thing ive seen in quite some time.

Tell me about it dude. The craziest part is that 1992 hasn't figured out that we keep posting so he will get his underware, or may be thats fenderware, in a bunch. Its like a Dilbert cartoon.

I still don't see the uproar with someone putting a Fender Decal on a bass that was built, licensed, and sold by Fender. Same goes for mighty mite, allparts, warmoth or anyone else who uses a Fender design and gives Fender a part of the cut. Fender got their money. Fender production an CS basses have serial numbers ,pot dates, neck stamps, pickup stamps ,body stamps for identification. If your paying top doller for any bass based on the headstock logo alone you shouldn't be playing bass let alone buying one.

hahahahaha. you can rest assured that im not getting ANYTHING in a bunch. i mean, its a moot point now, from my perspective. i already ordered the decal, and fully intend to put it on my squier. at NO POINT WHATSOEVER was i considering not doing this. once I got the link to the website to buy the decal (which happened within the first 5 replies), the real issue was taken care of, in my eyes. Everything that has been posted since then serves no other purpose for me other than some sick, twisted, absurd comedy. hahahahahahah. what a riot!

Well, I can see how some would find his ranting, namecalling, and tantrums to be entertaining.

and also, I havent been the ONLY one who has been ranting. at least my rants each bring up new points each time, unlike the morality police droning on about "it's illegal! it's illegal!" come up with a new point, jeez. and i assure you, regardless of the legal ramifications of me putting a decal on a bass I OWN, if an objective outsider were to read this thread, I would not be the one who comes off as ridiculous. It would be the people who were saying "Youre immoral. Ill never deal with you" (which is ridiculous, and cant possibly offend me, considering I ALREADY SAID THAT IVE NEVER SOLD A BASS IN MY LIFE) out of nowhere who would seem as if theyve gone over the deep end. Ive stated my points very concisely and effectively for the most part, which is something a lot of you have not. I mean, we ALREADY KNOW that it's "illegal". Let me ask you guys something: Have any of you never done something that's "illegal"? I mean, get a grip, man. Live and think in the REAL WORLD, not some idealistic fairytale land where everything that's "illegal" (notice the repeated quotation marks around that word) is so so so so wrong.

Exactly....GAME OVER!!!!
