word....but the Mods didn't cut it off, so one must assume the practice is okay with them. However, it could expose TalkBass to lawsuits down the road...

The fact that so many have no problem with the rights infringement issue is just another symptom of the basic, fundamental flaw of character that is EXACTLY the problem with today's society.

Respect is a powerful thing, no matter how small the gesture.

Man up and play the bass you bought. Putting on airs at this young an age only means that later in life you is gonna be one of those guys with a toupe and a tube of grecian formula in his gig bag.

Funny how i had a Black tape on the decal of my 67 Jazz, removed the logos on my rig for years while i was touring....

Im very proud of my bass and stuff but when i was touring and playing in front of large audiences, there was no way i would've advertise for any companies unless they pay me..

Now im just a "Has been"

I couldnt have put it better myself. People are saying that I want to feed MY ego by putting a different decal on my bass, yet seem to overlook the fact that bitching and moaning about the supposed "immorality" of it serves no other purpose than to feed THEIR egos, especially when one looks at the innocuous nature of the first post, and also the fact that I have explained numerous times that I dont intend to sell the bass as a "fake" fender. Why people feel the need to out-do each other with this "im a hardcore bassist, DUDE. its about values BRO" horsepoopie is proof that there are some people here on talkbass who obviously feel the need to grab their nads, puff out their chests, and proudly stroke their egos. I mean, really guys, whose fault is it that this thread has turned into this? I asked one VERY VERY simple question. if you didnt have an answer or found the topic objectionable then you shouldnt have even posted on the topic. Thats pretty much the same as someone asking about whats the best fender bass and the thread becoming inundated with morons saying that fenders suck and that he should get an ibanez. stick to the original topic, jeez.

oh, and also, when my decal gets here next week, you can DAMN SURE BET im going to put up LOTS of pictures of my bass, WITH the decal, BEEYOTCHES.

Wow that last word really makes you look like an adult... But please do explain again, what's the use of putting a Fender logo on a Squier bass, besides letting people think you have a Fender? I mean Come on dude, you play a Squier and if it's a good bass... be proud of it...

haha. anyway, for the last time.... i want the fender decal for aesthetic reasons only. i havent gigged since college, and i only jam with a couple of my buddies who absolutely couldn't care less what the logo on my bass is. i want it because i like the way it looks, which is absolutley MY prerogative. When I got my super nice alembic bass 4 years ago i switched the label on it too.

and on the Squier/Fender thing... I don't get it at all, what's more aesthetic on a Fender logo? but hey what ever floats your boat right?

exactly. finally someone gets the point. I have NEVER sold a bass in my life. In fact, I still have the one I started on when I was 18. Im not trying to impress anyone. I just wanna change the friggin label. whats the big deal?

Y'all PLEASE try to get this through your heads.

Everybody else doesn't do things because of what somone else might think about it.

Not eveybody who puts a fake decal on a fake bass is trying to fool the public or trying to impress people.

Maybe you guys with the REAL Fenders are hung up on image and other such superficial crap, but we TRUE POSEURS (that was sarcastic) aren't, and if we put a fake decal on a fake bass sometimes it's for the simple reason that we want to. It's pretty obvious that a bunch of you Fender players do so because YOU'RE the posers who care about what other people think.

And all of this immorality, disrespect for the law, etc doesn't cost Fender one gd dime and Fender gets some more free exposure.

Maybe all the TRUE POSEURS can get together and hire Johnny Cochran and he'll set up a class action lawsuit and Fender will pay us for advertising their company.

haha don't get me wrong... I still don't approve of it(bit of a strong word I guess, but my english isn't that great so it'll have to do) I think it's fake and weird to change a logo for another brands logo, I don't care what brand you change it to... same as buying Nike T-shirts in Turkey(just in case you don't know... their probably all fake)... and I really don't get it...

BUT if you want to do it... have fun...

And I do see the point in putting one on a parts bass... IF for example the neck broke or something like that, it's still a Fender bass...

I don't think it has anything to do at all with Fender... more with the fact that you're putting a logo of a different brand on a bass... I personally would say the same stuff if he/you put a sadowsky/alembic/ibanez/guild/whatever logo on it...
want a different logo? design one your self...

Your English is better than most Americans'.

This is a weird subject, and I used to be 100% against the fake decal thing, but I changed my mind. IMO, for personal use it's harmless; for fraudulent activity I'm 100% against it. We all break or bend the law a bit at times.

Why would anyone switch the label on an Alembic besides what may be your obvious answer, "Because I want to"? This ought to be good!
