Fender deluxe PJ smokes MIA imo

So I just got the fender deluxe pj in a fetching seafoam green, I am having my tattoo artist paint the pickgaurd with old school nautical art. (No I'm not covered in ink this guy is just a buddy and an amazing artist) anyway I'm just here to rave about this bass!!! It's amazing ! Seriously if I could design a fender this is it. LOVE the p-bass as far as I'm concerned the jazz can't hold a candle to the P! That said I hate the neck, way to big. With this bass they used a 70s jazz neck! I do love the jazz neck, plays like a indi track, super fast! The best part is its maple!! I know a lot say no diff between rosewood and maple but i can clearly hear it! It's got full p pickups with a jazz for the bridge! Also it's passive!!! I mean good god this thing is amazing! I got a killer deal on it with a bit of trickery at GC :) $735 out the door brand new with a rad road runner gig bag! Full p 75% tone and 25% j this thing sounds better than the few MIA I have played!!has anyone played this wonderful bass? It's a limited run, anyone know how many they made?

I've been going to GCs hoping to try one but haven't had any luck yet (I think it's exclusive to them). Congrats!
Two Guitar Centers in my area, not the GC five minutes away, unfortunately, have them hanging up. It's available online, too, of course, but I'm definitely going to stop by the GC in Totowa to try one out. Much better than the active version, I'd have to think, and the Seafoam Pearl looks incredible.
By the way, $735 is a great price. I just hope when I can afford one...after the holidays since I just bought a bass...GC emails me a 15% off coupon so I can save some money.

You consider this neck to be big? I feel just the opposite. I find the neck to be small compared with just about any P bass. Still, the neck is very nice, but feels small to me. I've been modding mine to shed weight and got it down to 8 1/2 pounds. Definitely a beauty.

It really is a sweet bass. This is the 2nd run of this model, I believe. The first run came in both seafoam and black/tort, and the current run is seafoam and 3tsb. There may also have been an active version, but I'm not sure on that. No idea on production numbers, but the first run was a 1-year only release, and it was discontinued shortly after release. My local GC has One of the current run in seafoam, but it's $850, not the $799 that it's listed for online. Other TB'ers have also said that the in-store price has gone up compared to online. The one at my local also has a large (almost nickel-sized) ding in the finish on the back of the body. I considered buying it for a minute, but decided to pass because of the damage.

Congrats!

I went to GC to buy one yesterday. When I walked in there was a fella switching around between the PJ and several others. Seems like it took awhile (okay a long while). Then he bought the dang thing! I asked the sales dude if there were any more and he said something along the lines of "No, you should have just grabbed the one the guy was trying out when he was trying a different one."....Uh no.....that's not the way I roll. Better luck next time......

Well, you're not that close to the Plymouth Meeting Pa GC or the one in Totowa, NJ but you can always order it online and GC will send it to your store.
Fortunately, I'll be in Totowa on Thursday so I can try it out...unfortunately, I can't afford it until after the holidays.

I played one of the black/tort ones in a GC a few years back. Easily the best sounding and playing bass I picked up that day. One I'd definitely like to revisit sometime, though the black would have been my color choice.

Yeah I know I can order one. I kinda like to touch the instrument first (even though I know I can send/take it back if it's a dud).

You'd think they'd match their own web site's online price. I haven't asked that question yet but I will if/when I purchase one.

No the neck is perfect, the P bass neck is to big for my taste, this is the 70s jazz and it's perfect.

All the 15% off I have ever gotten over the years won't stack with fenders. They always exclude them. However I was able to get a chat agent online to give an over ride code and it worked, I loaded the cart and took a pic then went into GC. They needed a mgr override there. Not really a hassle but the guy gave me a look like he knew what was up, then said in a sarcastic tone "man, haven't seen one of these deals in a long time.." I was stoked considering is also game with a $80 gig bag!

That's the active version. Max Proud has a very short "I like this bass" video on youtube for the passive bass I thought BoneRattlingBass bought, but it isn't really a demo.....
