Fender deluxe PJ smokes MIA imo

I was noodling away at one yesterday, un-amplified and on-the-shelf, at my local GC (Wilmington, DE). It felt quite nice…very good neck.
Sounds like you might be just around the corner from me, eh JD? Too bad that Eastern PA/South Jersey TB-get-together never went down.
If you're gonna be up in Totowa, then you'll probably be passing a couple of other locations. There's one in Springfield right off Rt.22 (not far from the Parkway) and another on Rt.18 (near Parkway Exit 9). In other words, there's a bunch of New Jersey locations to choose from.

I'm in Allentown, 5 minutes from the GC in Whitehall..but when I lived in Jersey the Guitar Center on Rt 18 was the first GC I ever visited.

Neat! I crash with friends o' mine in Bridgewater when I pull a two-day-work-stretch in NJ. Sometimes we catch a flick at the Manville movie theater. Cool place, what with the big, train-based-movies motif to it. (I think there was a train station near there at one time)
I just sold my active one to a buddy who fell in love with it. I didn't like the stock elecs at all, so I went to Bart pickups and a Bart two-band active/passive pre, and then ultimately to Nordstrand pickups which I liked even more. It was very nicely built, played great, weighed 8lbs, 14oz. The black guard really made it pop, everyone who saw it went gaga over it. Yet another very nice MIM Fender that made its way through my herd. I'll no doubt regret selling this gem someday, but I have other PJ basses that I like more, so off it went.

The black pg is the absolute "right" color for that bass. I wouldn't have thought so if someone suggested it, until I saw yours.I just sold my active one to a buddy who fell in love with it. If it sets up nicely, why not pull the guts and swap in a passive pup set instead, with a new pickguard? The EMG Geezers would be a good choice, and they come with volume and tone pots, a new output jack, and all the quick connectors.
EDIT: You could keep the stock pg, and just have the side jack be unused, or wire it using the side jack and buy a new pg.
I had the active version with that horrid gold vinyl pickguard. Great bass sounded very nice but sold it to get another bass. I wish I could have kept both because that special was very nice. The day I put the down payment on it i played every fender they had and was very happy with my choice then GAS...

Glad you like your new bass, just don't dis MIA basses in the process. Now having said that, Sea Foam green is one of my favorite colors. Congrats on the new bass.
I just bought this passive
one from a TB member. Very good bass for the money. My band mates loved it at practice today.
More dissin the price of MIA. $1600.. That said my fav bass is a 77 p with maple fret.
I wouldn't even mind having the possibility of going active flicking a switch either. Just tend to do better with the simplicity of passive.
Didn't mean to put you on the spot. Some of us (me) only have MIA basses. We all buy in our budget, and you found a great bass. Sorry if I came across wrong.
