I've had this sitting around for a while (Madison's Ultimate Passive Control Plate) and a set of Lace Sensor Man O' War Jazz pickups. Should I buy a Man O' War P pickup and make my PJ a Super PJ?
Should be a fairly easy mod...only need one hole drilled for the phase switch.

The first time I saw the PJ in Sea Foam Pearl I wanted one, but it was the active model. Still, when the passive one came out all I could do was dream about buying one, thinking to myself month after month after month that I'd never be able to justify spending that kind of money. It wasn't until December when I took advantage of a 20%-off coupon that I finally decided to splurge...and even then I had to put the bass on layaway.
I have some $$ saved up, but I was thinking of putting it on my Sweetwater/GC card (Synchrony Bank) and doing the 0% interest thing.
If I did that, I would just put it on the card, and when the first billing cycle came up, pay what I've saved so far (half of what I need), and then have some really low payments and pay it off with no interest.
I really just hate using credit, though..........

I'll admire other people's P basses when I see nice ones but I won't have to buy another one now that I have this.
I can't wait for the new strings to break in. If it sounds good now, I can't imagine how good it will sound then.

Switched the control knobs from the Jazz bass plate to the Precision pickguard. I just ordered a set of stacked chrome and a set of stacked black knobs to mix and match...I think the knobs will look better with the chrome bottoms and black tops on the black pickguard instead of black bottoms and chrome tops. Independent stacked master volume and tone controls for each pickup. Tone circuits are wired using .02 60's New Old Stock ceramic disk capacitors. Independent volumes allow for total independence between pickups. The third control is a TBX center detent bass and treble boost. Standard .82k resistor with a New Old Stock ceramic disk capacitor. The TBX offers a extremely wide range of tones for passive electronics! Increases overall action and response from any set of bass pickups. The mini toggle switch is used to invert the phasing of the pickups.
I have a feeling this bass is going to be a killer!

In case anyone feels like building one of these themselves, there's a nice body for sale on ebay. These don't come up often. I'd be on it myself, but I already have one of these basses.

Sorry for multiple posts. Quick question - What are good tuners to upgrade to for this bass? The ONLY thing that I don't like about it is the tuners. They are super jerky/jumpy. Has anyone else had that issue or upgraded?

Whoa. I didn't know you could get a 4 hole version. I had a Dee Dee Ramone pick guard lying around so I drilled a hole in mine but it didn't turn out so good.
It's a little too close. Might pick one up because its bothering me lol
As for the comment about tuners. Mine are smooth. No problems with mine.
