I believe the qualifier is that they have a Fender manufactured part somewhere...it's a pretty wide berth on this one.

Here's mine and it's a monster. MIJ Duff McKagan body shot in sonic blue. Gotoh high mass bridge. EMG GZR pups and pots. Squier Affinity P neck (one of the best necks ever). Hipshot UltraLite tuners. Rotosound steels.

By the way, those looking for a body should also consider talking with any local music stores that make basses, or luthiers. Sometimes stores have trashed basses going cheap that you can use for parts, or a luthier may have an "oops" body that he can't use - better than it being used for firewood.

Yes. If I have the option, I prefer the reverse P config.

Actually, a metallic cinnamon brown burst. A GM paint color.

1982 MIA P Special.

Body stripped to bare wood, bridge J pickup added, EMG GZR P/J set (original electronics are long gone)...

And a Kahler tremelo.

Probably gonna refinish the body in the spring. It's a heavy beast but it sounds amazing.
