Doh..I thought I was on distressed finishes thread lol...I'll move it. Nothing Franken about that baby I assure you. And waaay out of my range money wise, but it is priced accordingly. Dave knows his stuff and is fair.Get it man! (I love that bass)
What 'frankenstein' about it BTW?
My inaugural build. Let's call it a '61 in shell pink nitro. The body is some cheap Japanese part supposedly made of alder. The neck is a rebadged Squier with a nicely applied Fender waterslide. Pickguard from a CV 60's. I somehow lucked out with amazing sustain and no dead spots. The sound is great, thanks to Dimarzio 122 and excellent electronics. Paint is from Reranch rattlecans. I can't seem to put'er down.

I've been contemplating making some changes, but haven't settled on anything yet. On the table is a new Fender neck (having decided on rosewood or maple board), new tuners and/or a hipshot D-tuner, preamp, and possibly going back to a standard Fender bridge. Some or all coming when Uncle Sam coughs up my refund. I'm torn between making it vintage-like or a hotrod, or both!

cool! Very much like the 57 reissue I added the bridge pickup too. Alder/ maple PJ passive with a BAII. Mine really has become my go to bass. Hope yours does the same for you
That is just gorgeous. I always liked the pale shell pink color, and it is perfecto with that tort guard. Really loving that color combo. Nice work!
Tough call. This P/J as pretty as she is has to compete tone wise with my 4003. I won't know until my band's gig Friday night when I get to push volume thru my rig. I do know the P handles drop-D better than the Rick.
Life is to short to have only one bass tone. I am sure they can coexist!
Love this bass! I ended up playing it almost the entire show. The Rick only made an appearance for 4 songs of our 1.5 hour set. DHA & Demeter pre's, Crest Pro 2.0 into a fEARful 12/6 = killer tone!
so i know it's not a bass, and it's not a fender, just a squier, but i figured i'd post this here anyways. i bought this squier bullet strat on sale for $99. i ended up putting in a Seymour Duncan JB humbucker, i got a new pickguard, i bought a new mighty mite neck and finished it in tung oil and then i installed new mighty mite tuners
