You just HAD to rub it in with the new slab. Looks like no through body stringing. I hope I can get mine done for some gigs this summer - not sure how long it will take for everything to cure.

Neck question. How many of you have new necks tinted? Not sure if I am going nitro or satin finish, but am note sure if I should tint it, or just go natural maple - not looking for a relic look.

Not a ton...just a filtertron bass pickup, cut the guard, painted pickguard part black and "control plate" silver.... it didn't need much. I've got a filtertron beauty ring on the way to pretty the bass up a bit, but the short scale with the filtertron sounds killer.

I got a new neck because of the previous ones issues. The bar retainer was a lifesaver. I got it from a a friend who had acquired parts from a very old telecaster and gave it to me when I told him about my project. The washer is from preventing the string tree from digging into the wood. I noticed on my other precision there was a bad indent in the wood and also I had tried to cover up some marks from trying to drill the hole for the string tree. I wish I would've known this before I got the bar retainer so I wouldn't of had to drill anything there. Oh well though! I made something out of it though. There's a "W" for Wilson.

This is my parts PJ bass I put together last year. Enjoyed doing it so much I'm planning in doing another one soon, perhaps with Warmoth parts though.

This ones made up of:
Fender US '57 reissue body
Fender US standard jazz neck
Fralin p and 5% overwound j pickups
Fender vintage bridge
And wired up with a 3 way switch.
Currently wearing a tort pickguard, bridge cover with foam mute, flats, and I've dulled the nitro finish so that it's more matte for a more vintage vibe.

I may be joining a punk-ish band soon tho so contemplating getting some more focused and aggressive pickups to drop in, and maybe a high mass bridge. It might cop a bit of abuse if that's the case too, but I got that body in the hope that the nitro finish would eventually show some natural mojo!

Well, the parts for my '51 build are almost all in:
- All parts ash body (gonna be butterscotch blond) and flame maple neck;
- Grolsch tuners and d-tuner;
- everything else stock Fender, some compliments of the God's Favorite Bass, Club #42

Will post as soon as the paint gets in and I can get to work.

 

[A-Step-Towards]

Warmoth 55 style single coil P body, Lollar pickup, babicz bridge, 2005 MIM J neck amongst other customization. I have never seen a single coil P with a j neck or a stock 2 saddle bridge that can have good intonation, so I call it the modern twist of a 50s single coil. Not to mention its right at 8.5 pounds.

Sadly I am selling it, thats how it goes right?
