Has this happened to anyone with an FSR. My finish is chipping off. its from '03 but so is my
Squire p bass special V and it still looks brand new. im starting to think Squier standards ARE better than MIM fenders...

Yeah it is to alot of people. I might just get a new body or just keep it as is, the clear coat is still there. The whole thing is built with less quality than my Squier. It has pretty substantial neck gaps too. It still plays well and sounds good though. Just ugly for a what I thought was a well maintained bass.

That's the first I'm hearing about that. If it really bothers you, you could have the body refinished. Would be cool to do a sweet custom color.

I talked to a custom shop here in PA and without seeing it they said the re finish would be $100-$300+a lot of wait time depending on how far I want it to go. So it's either gonna be that or just a replacement body from Fender.

I don't know if that will work for you, unless you are changing the electronics. It has the side-mount output jack route for the deluxe active setup.

I haven't owned an MIA Jazz, but I have had a couple of MIM J's. My FSR has a great sound, fit and finish are good, and the pups respond great to volume and tone adjustments. I haven't weighed it, but it doesn't seem overly heavy. The neck has a satin finish on the back, but I plan on knocking it back even more with some sandpaper. I was able to get the action fairly low, and it gives me different tones than my P bass. I have some chrome covers on order, and they'll really bring out the 70's vibe. I'm glad I picked it up.

Nice! Pics don't do that finish justice, imo. I didn't like the look of it until I saw it in person. How long have you had it?
