Fender Fullerton Reissue club

The 1983 Fullerton Jazz I own is the best "all around" bass I own. Playability excellent, tone amazing! I wish all my basses were this good. I can't speak for all basses built during the Fullerton reissue time frame, but this fiesta is just outstanding.

Went to guitar center 2 weeks ago to fool around. In the used section there is a jbass that the tag reads "80's fender 62 reissue" the tag reads 1699.00 Of course i snatch it off the wall, and plug into a markbass. 1 hour later im absolutly in love with the bass. Amazing neck is all i can say. I photo the sn#. My reservh leads me here to this thread. So i come back with the idea of buying this thing but trading some gear in. I of course insist the show me the neck date. They oblige but the store manager says "the neck pickup is dead, ill knock the price down to 1299.00. Sold I say. "Its japanese you know." Says the cs manager "I dont think so myman" I say.
The neck comes off, the date stamp is smudged but says 198smudge. Super buzzkill...
Written in pen is the name H Cuevas and there is a sticker label on the back of the neck. Im pretty sure there are no cuevas san's in my homeland...

We look at the electrics which all start with a 0 for their serial #

I couldn't snap photos as i had lost my phone and was waiting for a replacement. I will get some more photos when i get to arcane pickups on sat. He is going to rewind the pickup for 50 dolla.
Total cost for my alltime favorite instrument ive ever put my hands on: 1350$

Came with a tweed case
Sn is V031xxx

The sticker at the top of the headstock is an odd placement. The other pics ive seen its right next to the jazz bass logo. I did read the sticker placements were funky on the Fulertons. Ill get some sexier pics this weekend. Im so damm happy with this bass, i cant wait till its 100% functioning. I would give it a 9/10 body rating. A small amount of buckle rash, but very minimal. A few mini dings. Its been in the closet for the past 30 years is my guess.

The smudge was crushing! Im going to get the sn# from the electrics and check for a body date. I actually tried to email hcuevas@fender because im a psycho. But it bounced back. I found a post from a guy who has a strat smudged date and his sig on his neck for a fulerton era strat. the cuevas san comment we all had a good laugh about in the tech shop at gc.

Looks like an early Corona. 1986/87. Nice Peperoni guard.
