Looks like an guitar case. Too small to put a bass in there.
That is a late 80's case. The center latch is squared off where the Fullerton cases had a flair to them. They are also vague as to what kind of instrument this case fits.

I've been gone for a bit, but in the interim I found a fab-ulicious P Bass! I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am so excited that I just had to share this with you all.
I had a mint Mike Lull TC4 that I just wasn't playing as much as my other Lulls so I put it up for sale/trade - hoping for a Fullerton with cash included from me.
Then this came along as an offer for trade -
I took her to Emerald City Guitars (thanks Eric) and was told the neck stamp says she was built on the 38th week of 1975 - on a Thursday. She is all original and dead mint.
The sticker (Solid Sound) on the back of the headstock was from the store of the same name in Boulder CO that the owner turned into Prosound back in 1976.
It only needed a slight truss adjustment and it plays and sounds utterly amazing. I'll stop here - thanks for indulging me.
Christmas came early here in Seattle

You did the right thing, keeping your options open until you found a bass that speaks to you.
One day you will probably end up with a great Fullerton if you remain interested, without having to rush into getting one that isn't exactly what you want.
A good P is a great instrument and the moment you find a great one it really inspires you to greatness yourself. Pure simplicity, pure solid tone and a large part of musical history, what's not to like?
Thanks OneDrop. Indeed, I am still on the lookout for a Fullerton, but I am going to be patient and wait for the right one to come along and "find me".
I saw one on TB, but it looked like it had seen some really high temperature?
In the meantime, I have a sweet one to play - very psyched!

Well....For a LONG time I've been hoping to find the unicorn (for me) Fiesta Red Fullerton '62 AVRI Precision in reasonably good condition. I bought a new '57 Fullerton P back in the day and sold it a few years later, before the Fullerton craze began. I didn't realize it was a Fullerton until recently when I came across it's V00xxx serial number on an inventory list I created years ago.
Fast forward to 2010, I was browsing the TalkBass Classifieds and came across a very early 3-digit (V000xxx) sunburst '57 Precision for a very reasonable price that I scooped up. It is all original aside from a Lindy Fralin PU and new CTS pots. I am a player, not a collector so that stuff didn't bother me. I still have it, it is a great bass and is the one that sparked my search for the unicorn '62 Fullerton.
So, a couple weeks ago I was checking the TB Classifieds again, something that I hadn't done in awhile when....<ka-POW!> there it was, the unicorn!
The ad was very detailed with several pictures and an honest description. I PM'd the seller, it was still available so of course I PP'd the funds immediately, it arrived a few days later and it was even nicer than it was described.
It is all original aside from a replacement Fender Jazz Bass neck (remember those?) that was installed by the original owner in 2001 and a Pickguardian pickguard. I also replaced the headstock decal with a proper '61-63 version because the one the original owner had installed was slightly misaligned. I am a player, not a collector so the replacement neck didn't bother me.
Actually, the neck swap was a big plus for me even though it devalues the bass to collectors. Remember, I'm a player, not one of "those guys". I don't have long skinny fingers so I prefer a Jazz neck but I prefer the sound of a Precision. I'm OK with mongrel basses - My "number one" recording bass is a mongrel '65 Precison with a Warmoth Jazz neck and a Lollar pickup.
Anyway, i couldn't be more pleased with the unicorn. My search is over.

Yeah, they sold them seperatly, also body in sunburst and black. But only in around 2001 or so.
I've seen some without a name stamped. Most of the ones I've owned had stamps. The name is not where date is...its on flat side that lays in neck pocket. Some even have a sticker on them with name and some neck pockets have the sticker/label. I'm curious if a particular neck stamp by a builder automatically correlates with a particular neck profile. Every Gastelum neck I've had was a C carve and the ones that were Soft V shape had Torres stamps so wondering if that's the case on others. That's why I included names.

Another interesting thing about these is I see a lot of same neck dates. From '82 I've seen a lot of 11-15-82. Also from '82 I see a lot from August and December. From '83 I've only seen Jan-March dates. From '84 I've only seen March-April neck dates. I'm wondering what the earliest and latest dates are for them.
Thanks for your reply. That's interesting. I never seen one from 1984 that late. I've owned a bunch of these and it seems like a lot of similar dates from 1982. I never seen one from earlier than Aug '82. Also, I found from my experience that 1983 seems to be the most abundant ones...I've owned and/or seen the most from that year and every '83 I have seen was between Jan-March. I'm also curious to know approximately how many of these were produced between 1982-1984.
Ok that's cool. I guess they are out there. I must have seen at least 20 reissues from 1983 and every one of them was dated between Jan-March. Just made me wonder.
