The other day I wrapped some solder around 3 of my Fullerton necks just to see if I can notice the difference in profile shapes. I did it at the 3rd, 5th & 7th frets on each one. The top photo is the 3rd fret in each one. I can clearly see the difference in the 3 profiles from the solder. The first one is the soft V from my main player a 1983 '57 then the second is a chunky C from a '57 (which I just sold) and last one is from a '62 neck which has a thin C. The difference in the Soft V and C isn't extreme but its there...its more of a thing that's felt in the hand. The V carves on these are not as pronounced as on the real '57s I have experienced...these are a very mellow soft V while the real '57s I played were a harder more pronounced V but Both amazing necks. Thats one of my favorite things about the fullertons is the necks...no matter what profile, they are amazing.

Hi folks! I just purchased what I believe to be a 1982 Fullerton '57 Precision Reissue (white). I am concerned about it's authenticity as the neck doesn't have a stamp. There's no date on it anywhere. There is in the body, but nothing on the neck. I have 48 hours to return it, please advise.
Any pictures could help. I've only seen necks with penciled date under the clear coat. The Bodies mostly don't have a date. Pots (plastic or metal shafts) from 1981-1982 (137 82..) are used until the nineties.

That is a nice Standard American Bass build in Fullerton - but not a '57 reissue. These are a different story.
If I see where headstock logo/decal is placed that can help me tell. There are some without dates from what I heard but majority have dates penciled. A few have stamps. All the ones I have owned had penciled dates. That's funny because none of the bodies I have owned had dates but I can tell if they are Fullerton or not just from looking them over

From browsing pics it looks legit to me. The markings on neck look similar to mine(minus pencil date) and also in neck pocket...the red and blue. Also the G under pickguard. All looks good. Are your pickups raised A pole? Most have it but some early ones don't? Does it have deep contours? If you ever take pickups out they usually have lil circle inspection stickers in pickup cavity. Router hump? Whats the back of neck profile like? The decal position looks right

No one cloud make your decision to keep it or send it back.
But if an independent authority of Fullerton Freaks around the world confirm it is legit - I would keep it.
No I wouldn't worry about it. It is known that some Fullerton reissues don't have dates. There are other ways to tell. I would not sell it for that reason. It looks like an awesome bass in good condition. Id play it for a while and If you bond with it Id keep it. Some vintage basses don't have dates...'59 P basses are known for that, a lot of them had no dates.
