squier has been doing the painted headstocks waaaay more than fender, i wish fender actually did more. Finding a precision with matching is almost impossible these days

I don’t get the whole ‘back to the BAD ‘80s’ vibe. I don’t dislike the white with matching headstock, tho, and generally CIJ quality is top shelf.

Tried this one in a local shop recently, while looking for my 1st P bass (the white one). I love how a P sounds, but am more comfortable with Jazz basses. I've been playing an MIJ Aerodyne (black) Jazz for years and it's an awesome bass, I also have an MIA American Special Jazz.

For the price point (579 CDN, I believe), it's a pretty good instrument, although more of a modern take on the P, which will not suit everyone, but that probably comes with having a painted headstock. Was actually considering buying it until I stumbled on something more convenient for me in the locals.

What kills it for me is the full size tuners. I’m use to and like the light weight tuners on the American Professional Basses now. And other manufacturers like Music Man have switch to light weight tuners.

Bassmike, I just get wore out to This Year's New Fenders; it's like new model time every year for motorcycles where it's always the same schtick for bikes that are carryovers: Bold new colors, and re-tuned for more torque !
I realize Fender and others have to have a churn to keep 'em buying, but geez . . . .

Anyway, I think ESP's are amazingly overlooked great axes, and like Yamaha, their take on a Fender-Shaped-Object often consists of mods me or you would do, smart stuff that's outside of Fender's profile.

All three of those are alder. Maple with an ebony (!) fingerboard, which can give a little bit more top end sizzle, but is also tremendous backup because of its' hardness (which adds definition) to the truss rod, which you can access at the head end. Babicz, or Gotoh 201 bridge in they Surveyor, real Seymours or EMG's. Serious improvements to your general FSO, already built in. What a concept !

I can see myself playing that Dark Metallic Purple ESP Surveyor '87.
I can't see myself even trying out a new Aerodyne...I'm pretty sure they'll be on the wrong side of $1,000.

Matching headstocks rock. It means they finished painting it instead of cutting corners like they do with(out) shielding. I like the look of the white with black binding. But I’d want to see it up close. I bet they sell a lot of them.

The burst one caught my eye, but I'm still looking for a JV reissue bass-specific series. I had a 1983 JV Fender P that I had to sell for a root canal, and I could only get $300 at the time. It was painful in more ways than one.

Oh my gosh that green one… Wow! I love it! I am a sucker for green basses, though I’ve never owned one. That looks super cool though.

I was literally bored looking at the Aerodyne, I was wishing they make more. It's gonna cost so much extra though to ship from Japan but I have to look more into it. I love these basses so awesome!

EDIT: I see they are coming to the US sorry lol. Hope to try some I love these guys!
