Fender Japan serial numbers complete

You are correct. I did say that. I also said that there was no indication of where it was made anywhere. Of course closer inspection revealed Fener Japan stamped on the neckplate. This is the result of a quick pawn shop glance and a couple of poorly aimed 'photos'. I guess I was more interested in the serial. Again, I am truly sorry for typing out of my a@@! Thanks for your help.

I recently picked up a 75 Reissue Jazz here and contacted Fender in California and they had no Idea what I had from the serial number.What I later found out is it is a Non Export 75 Reissue available only in Japan.It is a Alder Body in Candy Apple Red with Matching headstock with Maple neck with Rosewood Board with Blocks and Binding.The headstock say Made in Japan and a stamped Crafted in Japan on the rear of neck where it joins the Body.I will try tp post pics if they are small enough to post.

That is truly a CRAFTED IN JAPAN based on the serial number Q+0+ 5 digit number BUT the serial number is placed on the headstock. All CIJ Jazz models with serial numbers on the headstock also has MADE IN JAPAN stamped below the "JAZZ" decal even if it is truly Crafted in Japan as your Jazz bass shows. If the serial number is stamped at the back of the neck near the pocket, then there will be no MADE IN JAPAN stamp in the headstock. If you look at the beginning of this thread, I posted a headstock photo of CIJ Marcus Miller Jazz. It is Crafted in Japan but it also has Made in Japan as well as the serial numbers stamped in the headstock.

Perhaps Fender Japan used this scheme to differentiate certain models from standard issues.

I have the answer for that but I want one more info.... did you buy this as brand new recently or used before?

Got it. Its MIJ and it was just a coincidence that the number next to the letter prefix is ZERO. Old MIJ number schemes starts at any number including ZERO BUT CIJ only starts with ZERO then 5 digits more. Got it?

And yes you are right, all NEW MIJ with T prefix starts with ZERO always T+0+ 5 digit numbers. So it would like this T 012345, no space between zero and the next 5 digits.

Serial number on NEW MIJ are the same as before.. at the back of the neck although it also appears on the headstock on special models.

Here is my 1993 MIJ Squier . It has number 0 after the letter O.

One more thing, Bacchus Japan released a few exact copies of Marcus Miller Signature. There could be a slim chance the logo was replaced.

i found this pic of a jaguar guitar with a S/N serial number on ebay. i know i've seen others but i don't have the pic and i can't remember what kind of bass or guitar it was on.

Interesting indeed! A CIJ that starts with A :confused: "A" serial were all MIJ and serial numbers were stamped on the metal neckplate like the JVand SQ series , and I have never seen any MIJ/CIJ that has the serial numbers stamped in a very sloppy slanted way like that in the picture. MIJ/CIJ are such high quality products that serial numbers are stamped horizontally, not slanted downward. Also Crafted in Japan is stamped below the serial numbers while Made in Japan is stamped above the serial numbers. And to think its from e-Bay, I have my doubts:rolleyes:

yeah it is pretty sloppy.
I've seen the font for "crafted in japan" and "made in japan" pretty inconsistent. I should start collecting these SN photos for you. I've seen crafted in japan above the sn and I may have seen made in japan below as well.

I bought a MIJ Fender JB62 (JBD-62L/EX in neck pocket) in november last year. The serialnr. T 005*** meant made in the Fuji Gen plant in probably '94. But now I'm confused. Being bought end 2008 it could be true. :hmm:

Last owner bought it from Ebay and he only owned this beauty for a short while.

First (?) owner have tried to overcome the noise. Even Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups didn't help. But that is because i.m.o. he did a lousy job. :eyebrow:

I have to be honest, your bass is truly mysterious. It could be either a first generation MIJ (94) or second generation MIJ (08).
But I believe, its a second generation MIJ (2008) based on the small convexity beside to the lower right screw of the neck plate. That convex elevation is not present on '90s MIJ Fender basses. I could be wrong though;)
