Fender Jazz Bass! Only $32,500!

Here we go again. Every time a "Best Offer" aucton comes up, we get a thread like this.

I'm sure that the seller isn't expecting to get $32 Large for the bass, but I'm sure that, considering the vintage and the condition, that it'll fetch a pretty good buck.

Why set the Buy it now at $10-15K when the bass could get offers quite a bit higher?

I'm really loving this. I have a refinned'61 stack that I bought in '83 for $450 and a plywood Japanese Jazz copy. I am going to keep a close eye on this auction.

By the way, the book on an original '61 stack is actually over $32,000, but it is very difficult to find a buyer willing to fork over that much. In some ways I'm really glad mine is refinned. It is a special bass, but I would be hard-pressed to keep it if was worth anywhere near $32,000. As it is I can still play it and not go into nervous twitches. Still, I don't take it out very often. The last time I played it out was 3 years ago New Years eve. But if I need a Jazz for the studio, I've never heard a better one.

I just offered him $30,000. I need a good back up to my '49 jazz that I modded with a SX p bass pick up in the neck that I play through my vintage ampeg 8x10 powered by a Epiphone VJ amp. Sounds sick. I will probably use this one to smash up the drummers vintage DW kit at the next show.
