Fender Jino Jazz Bass!

P Cheen

Alembics and parametric mid knobs scare me.

I swear I’ve [day]dreamt of this bass before. The color, the matching headstock, the 70s Fender Jazz logo, the MM pickup, and the pickup cover over the neck J pickup. Oh, and block inlays! The high mass bridge is a nice modern touch too.

From Fender Japan which usually is doing the "classic" this is a really good surprise!

I'm a bit puzzled with the Atelier Z signature style pickup JHJ configuration but...nice hommage maybe?

Other than that it's a home run in the color/configuration, it's even price reasonnably. Jino is a class act and a really sweet guy. Very active on the local scene so must be a rough patch with Covid. He was regularly at a jazz bar downtown Tokyo where he would actually playing keys, great musicianship

Good news : 1700 USD so I would say price reasonably, cheaper than USA made for probably similar (better?) craftmanship

Bad news : 4.7kg / 10.3lbs...for a 4..that's heavy. I don't even accept that weight for my 5's

No bass is for everybody. Some will accept the weight for the sound and playability they want.

Oof. A little on the pricey side, but justifiable considering it is unique and has 99% of the specs I want. An American-made Fender can be had nowadays for about $500 less with the Am Performer series, but a Japanese Fender is always on my bucket-list.

I'm guessing these will only be for sale in Japan?
Most likely, unfortunately.

Agreed my comment was personal.

I'm really happy that people are healthy with no back issue. Unfortunately bad disks for me and my band play set of up to 3 hours. My very humble hobbyist level makes that I honestly hear no difference with heavier instrument (I'm from the church who do not believe in tone wood). It was even more important when I move to 5's and I only went for sub-9lbs instrument (no one complain about the tone of my EBMM stingray special and the Zon :) )
