Just received one I ordered form Japan and it has to be a lemon / bad apple. There is a loud CLICK when pulling into Active mode and a lot of noise and interference. Changed batteries and no change. You could never make that adjustment / switch while playing live and there is so much ground / line noise. Something I don't experience with any of my other 8 basses. The stacked tone knobs also do seem to be stuck together. Hopefully I will get a replacement and can share a real review....Incidentally it's a beautiful bass.

Sucks that you're having an (apparent) electronics issue. Since it came (if I'm reading you right) all the way from Japan, if you really like the bass otherwise (if it feels good and plays well acoustically and sounds good apart from the interference and clicking you mention), it might be worth talking to Fender and/or the seller to see if it's something simple to sort out (and if they might give you some credit toward that, if so).

I've never played any two of the same model instrument that sounded and felt exactly the same -- if I really liked an instrument apart from an issue that might be easily sorted, I might, based on that, be tempted to keep it.

You obviously don't have to do that, though -- and it's possible that the replacement might be free from the issue and equal or surpass the current instrument in other respects. Just thinking aloud. You are certainly entitled to a replacement if the current instrument is malfunctioning.

Either way, I hope you end up with a fully functioning instrument that you dig.

Love your playing first and foremost. I'm intrigued by this and the recent guitar world article most recently has definitely sparked up conversation on here the last few days. You said a P version is possible down the line, is there something like that coming? I'd try to import one to the US if there's a PJ/MM coming. That's a dream combo for me there.

Hey Thanx for comment! Yes fender peeps discussing next Bass weather it’s gonna be 5 string or P-Hum ,or medium scale w/preamp but not till next year due to Corona…..I’ll keep in touch !
