I've been changing the pickup in the first days I got the bass so I can't really compare side by side Thunderblade and Fideltron.
What I'm sure is that the difference is not night and day : you'll stay in the same 'sound philosophy'
But here you can hear how it sound
(the sound of the bass in the video is straight from the U5 DI)
MIM Cabronita with TV Jones Thunderblade, Thomastick Superalloy strings and a 0.1µF paper-oil capacitor...
...and a french "dirty-jamaïcan-Rock n' Roll" band.
Greetings from Paris !
I had thoughts of doing exactly this. Are the edges of the blades sharp, or rounded? A songwriter I play with has the guitar version in his Gretsch, and he's left blood on the strings more than once after energetic shows just trying to figure out whether or not I need to invest in medical Superglue...

i know this is an older thread, but i just got to sqawk... i played one of these day before yesterday and i LOVED it. the neck was huge, the sound was fine, it balanced well, the frets were the right size. if i can sneak it past the Banker Lady somehow, i might give it a home.
I'm not fan of the bridge either, perhaps because I love bridge/pickup covers and the don't play well together. But this thing looks a lot like something Dusty Hill could play, so I'd love to give it a try![]()
Looks like a GOTOH bridge...what bridge model is that?
Anyone have issues when playing over that pickup? Finger discomfort, strings hitting the poles, etc.?
THANKS!!!
