Fender mis-names bass IMO

Right, not to me. If I were to "make" a jazz bass. I could make any shape body....but use J pups. = Jazz bass.

This is a wiring diagram for a Standard Jazz Bass...

... the picture itself oozes the distinct sound of single coil pickups utilized by Fender. I suggest contacting the manufacturer for an answer, unlike mine...

... I'll be here all week, and please, don't forget to tip the wait staff.

So, I'm a bit confused. If pickups are not the defining factor, then, two single coils on a P bass body would be...a Precision bass. Because of the body. A split pickup on a jazz bass body, is stil a Jazz bass.

:wacky:

Also, I don't see 'type'. All basses matter. They're all the same. Stop being so divisive!

But to Leo Fender, it was. Bear in mind, the bass was named for the crowd it was supposed to appeal to - jazz double bassists making the transition to electric.

aaaaand the Les Paul was to be a Jazz guitar.
aaaandnd the Stratocaster was intended to be a country guitar.
Look at all the pickup morphs they have been through..

Just play the dang things, right ?

Is it weird that I actually want one of those reverse body basses? Seriously, I'd rock one of those.

I don't care what my designer friends say ("orange and green should never be seen")...

Interesting that the Jazz neck is so much slimmer than a Precision neck, given that a double-bass' neck is usually quite girthful.

BTW, does a bull-fiddle fit in the back of a Kerflumpkin oh Kay?

Sold it?

Well, I guess that's fair Turnaround.

I'd love a Reverse P!

But all I can find is this Reverse Jazz...

And it's a true reverse, ie a LEFTY.

The Stigge only needs TWO strings... take that Jaco!

I like these reverse Strats.
