With my new PJ, the only thing involved in a pick guard swap was the three way switch.
Unscrew the nut to the toggle and unscrew the screws holding the pickguard on. Pull the guard off.
Just undo the nut on the switch to remove it from the old pick guard, put the switch through the hole on the new pick guard and replace the nut to secure the switch...
Edit: no electronics or solder involved which suits me just fine

Uh oh...I just bought a 4003S Jetglo Ric yesterday... (my wife is not happy with me)
It's going to be okay... I've seen numerous posts in the thread from folks who own both 'Stangs and Rics... Just show her those and claim peer pressure.

I found my wife thought the Ric was ‘beautiful’ so maybe just show it to her and she’ll understand!

So I contacted both Fender USA and Fender UK to try and find out how I can get replacement tuners for the stock ones that were missing on the Mustang PJ bass I picked up recently (the previous owner put in all black hardware which I'm not really a fan of). Turns out they aren't available as aftermarket parts.
I was wondering if someone could do me a favour and let me know the measurements for the tuners that come with the bass so I can figure out my options for third party ones? The distance between the holes in particular as well as overall length and width? There's already two sets of holes in the headstock, and ideally I'd like to avoid drilling a third set of holes.
Never occurred to me finding a set of stock tuners would be so complicated.
