Nut Width: 1.615" (41.02 mm).
That is a whopping difference over the standard 1.625" (41.3mm)!! What's up with that? Is that REALLY a feature? lol

Well, that's one way to get use out of out-of-spec P-necks you don't want to sand down even more to make into J-necks. Way to recycle, Fender!

He uses both. I'd take his Lakland USA Glaub P-Bass over this one any day. Plus, I can't get into this color scheme.

I love p-basses so I'm glad to see yet another even if the specs are barely anything different than what's already being offered. As for origin, that's something I couldn't care about either... if I think it plays and sounds great then that's all that matters to me. As for Nate's sig p-bass, I think it's pretty... I'm not a fan of red basses but that dark candy red looks yummy.

Is there another Fender p bass with a nitro finish, ash body, and rosewood board?
Not sure if there is, but that's pretty much my favorite P bass.
Couldn't do this one though. Too red.

Despite all the sacarsm, I think it will be a cool bass. Obviously fender artist series are unique in the sense that if you want a chinkier neck you go for Steve Harris if you want a small neck you go for this. Just wish they have more colour though.

I definitely like the idea of an ash bodied Precision with the nitro finish, and a neck with the rosewood fingerboard. But I'd prefer a different color, too. Even though my main bass is a Fender (5 string) in CAR.

Honestly, I like it including the color. Ash body with a nitro finish, nice combination. The strange neck size is copied directly from his P bass. There was an interesting article on it last year in Bass Player mag and they talked about the neck dimensions in it.

Yes it is. That's nice!

Now, to make it a sig model clone, tie it to your car bumper and drive slow on a gravel road for a few minutes.

I'm kind of concerned if the Ash body turns out to be a 3 piece Ash body w/ alder veneer on top.
I was really seriously considering buying one of these Nate Mendel basses but I might just get the American Standard Precision bass instead unless.

Haha, you're only missing a screw on the pickguard, tint on the headstock and a little abuse and it's identical !!

I really don't like CAR but I do like this bass.
That's probably because of my huge man crush on the Foo Fighters though.

This is the reason why Fender is struggling; they have too many redundant models.

Why should they make a bass to suit every taste? Make 3 lines : Vintage, Modern, and Budget and streamline the models.

$899 for a nitro finish, BAII, Quarter Pounder equipped bass is, imo, pretty attractive.

The Road Worns are $200 more for about the same thing.

Actually, I like that bass a lot. The specs sound great. If I was going to buy another P bass, I'd look that one up first.
