Do you know if this bass is as light as those Road Worn. I am looking for a light one with relic.
Am planning to get one and add a Jazz neck pickup on it too.

I'm not much of a P-bass guy, but if I get one (read "eventually WHEN I get one"), this baby's gonna be a strong contender. Those neck specs sound sweet to me, and I always tend to gravitate towards ash-bodied P's anyway. When these start to pop up used, I have a feeling I'll be adding one to the stable.

I have a Geddy Lee Jazz. I really like the neck and the badass bridge, so this p-bass catches my interest. But, MIM? And the tele too? My geddy lee is/was about the same msrp and "crafted" in Japan. Did something happen to the manufacturing in Japan that fender is doing more work in Mexico or something? Because of the tsunami or something? I think I'd like the feel of this neck and how it plays, but you can probably pick up a used American one for about the same price.

I'm not sayin',... I'm just sayin'...

I agree on that. I had an active p bass deluxe special before and it was sweet. Changed my mind about the MIM guitars. This is just the first time I noticed one being so expensive I guess.

I am inches away from pre-ordering this bass. It has all the features I want, cool finish, rosewood, great pickup, BA bridge... Trying to decide if it's worth it over getting a used MIM P and modding it up to similar specs.

Yes, actually manufacturing in Japan has ceased because of the tsunami.

And you can pick up a used MIA, but then you have to throw in the BA bridge and QP's which will add another $1-200 and you have to either do the work yourself slotted the bridge and installing the pickups or pay a tech.

I would check one out, but it is already the same features as my own MIM P bass, so I have a good idea of how it sounds.

Mine has a hand-wound pickup, gotoh bridge, and maple neck, but yeah... Kinda similar.
