Fender Player II Series - Rosewood is back!

Hey everyone. I am looking at the pickup height chart in the Fender Bass Guitar Owners Manual, and there are different specs for different models of Jazz Basses (Vintage Style Jazz, Standard Jazz, etc.). Which spec should the Player II Jazz have? I was thinking Standard, but I'd like to know for sure.

Start with 2.4mm on G , 2.8mm on E for neck pickup, 2.0mm on G , 2.4mm on E for bridge pickup. Then used your ear to fine tune string to string output balance.

Picked up one of the new Player II Mustangs in coral red! Made myself a white pearl pickguard and am considering throwing on a tug bar in combination to give it a bit more of a vintage vibe (taped on the tug bar in the second pic so I can get a sense of the look and feel before committing to drilling - the routing of the pickup selector switch requires some precision). Thoughts after playing it for a couple of weeks now:

Pros: As you'd expect from a Mustang, light and very easy to wield. The neck and fretboard feel great, and it plays super fast especially with the rolled edges. Tones sound great and are just what I'd expect from a Fender. Loving the bright paint job combined with the dark rosewood. Seemingly decent QC as I haven't found any major issues with this one.

Cons: I definitely feel some neck dive and may look into some Hipshot tuners (if anyone has a recommendation on which would fit a Mustang let me know). Not a huge fan of the placement of the pickup selector switches on these and for some reason I'm afraid I'm going to catch it on something and snap it off.

Overall: Having played a couple of the pau ferro PJs in the last few years, this one generally feels consistent with that quality and tone with the added benefit of rosewood and the other minor Player II upgrades. Happy with this one and excited to play out with it a bit and break it in. Stylistically, I really just wish they'd just release a line of Mustangs with the rounded pickups and the modern neck, that isn't "road worn" like the JMJs, so for now this is the next best thing :)

The board looks not thick enough because 9.5 radius compare to vintage 7.25 radius.

FMIC love to use this kind of stupid publicity thing to confuse buyer to think they put lot great thing on their entry level bass.

I dare to say those rolled fretboard edge on Player II are not come close to Sire , and ibanez Premium, even Fender Ultra.

Just look at player plus fretboard edge, I don't think she rolled enough, they just like the fretboard edge on 2008 CIC Squier CV .

You're right. My player II P rolled edges are no where near as smooth as my Am Pro II P.

Interesting that they are showing the truss rod adjustment at the heel instead of at the nut. I figured these were just a new set of colors and a different bridge.

I like the Gold one too.
