Fender pre-CBS Club: pics mandatory!

Maybe jumping the gun, but I'm pretty fired up. Took this pic on my phone before putting this 1964 Precision on layaway. Have sold the guitar gear I needed to and am picking it up on Wednesday. More pics to follow.
My 64 is now home. Clay dots, L3 serial, OHSC, original everything including the stinkin' covers, finger rest and extra strap button. Dead stock. Lightest precision bass I've ever personally handled.

VERY NICE! The 'extra' strap button is correct for your bass in that year.

My L serie 64 Jazz bass...Bought 3 few years ago, was previously refined in an uggly sunburst... I had it refinished in O.White and here it is live in Marcello GIULIANI's hand :

I'm looking for some advice, and figured what better place to ask than Pre-CBS Fender owners!
I've recently come across a near mint all-original 1958 Fender Precision that is for sale and am looking to make a deal to obtain the bass. I'm looking to do a straight trade for it, but I'm not sure if I want to pull the trigger. As it stands currently, I'm up to having to trade seven basses out of my collection (three custom shop Fenders, a 50th Anniversary Jazz, a Gibson ES-Les Paul Bass, a Spector Euro 4LX Doug Wimbish Signature Bass, a Hofner HCT500/1) and some amp gear (Ampeg SVT-3PRO and SVT410HLF cab, a Mesa PH412 cab).
Am I nuts for even considering trading all of this gear for one bass or not?
Please help!!

Well, if the '58 is worth somewhere around $10,000 to $12,000 then you just need to figure the resale value of all that other gear, sounds like it might be close. The good news is vintage guitars tend to hold their value so if you sell it later you're not likely to lose money.
The seller is pretty firm on the asking price.....$10,000.
Most of what I'm looking to trade I barely play or don't play at all anymore. Resale value and trade-in value are two different things. I could probably get more for the items that I'm thinking of trading if I sold them myself (I'm being offered trade-in value), but it would take forever to sell all of that stuff off and then I risk losing the '58 to someone else buying it.

Sounds like you've made up your mind. DO IT!!!
I'll be honest, I don't think the basses you have listed retail used for a combined $10k. I think you'd be getting a deal.
$10,000 is probably fair. Norman's is asking $19,500 for this '58:

I did not hesitate and picked it up on Friday. As it turns out, it's a 1959 P. All original. I had them pull it apart and here are the results....
Body......dated to March 1959.
Pots.....dated to 16th week of 1959.
And the neck......no handwritten neck date. This is common for an early 1959 Fender as the story goes that Leo Fender suspended all neck dating for the first half of 1959 due to an obscenity found by a customer written on one.
