Fender pre-CBS Club: pics mandatory!

Maby This is the one with tort guard?

Maybe, but I don't think so. The guitar Weeks is playing in that picture looks to have a slightly different finish--a little more metallic and a little bit nicer overall. I wouldn't be surprised if my bass was the back-up for that one. I wrote a letter to Weeks shortly after I purchased the bass, but I haven't heard back--I didn't expect to, but I thought that it wouldn't hurt to ask him a few questions all the same.

I recently picked up one of my dream basses a couple of weeks ago.

1962 Fender Precision
Seems to be all original but there could have been an extra clear coat added at some point.

AWESOME!! Congrats!
Where did you find this beauty?
Thanks! I happened to stumble across it while stopping in at Dave's Guitar Shop in La Crosse, WI when my band was passing through on tour. I had no intentions on buying anything but when I picked it up and played it, I knew I had to have it and may not get another opportunity to own such a clean Pre-CBS Fender. I put together a deal with Dave, and it was home with me less than a week later. :-)

In the photo showing the area under the bridge, what's that white spot between the screw holes furthest to the left? Nail hole filled with junk?

Not sure...have to take the bridge off and look again. For some reason I guess I didn't notice it when I took the bridge off the first time.

Just curious. One of your pics is labelled "Nail Hole 2" but that one actually looks like a pickguard screw hole. As to be expected, your bass shows a nail hole next to the neck pocket and one next to the control cavity. The third one would normally be under the bridge, pretty much in the position of that white spot.

Today I traded my 65 P post CBS for a 61 P. The 61 is a refin with a new relic pickguard and new nut. The rest is original with thumbrest and guards. More importantly, she sounds better to my taste; darker, more sustain, instant Motown, more direct and punchy. I tried both with same new strings. The 61 plays like a dream! And I thought it couldn't get any better...
Pics will follow!
