Fender pre-CBS Club: pics mandatory!

This one just arrived tonight. 1960 Fender Precision. The serial number, pot codes, and penciled neck date all match up.

It was originally Olympic White, but was sanded down to the sealer in the 70's. The paint is actually still in tact under the pick guard.

I'm not sure you bridge is '60 tho... are those bridge barrels knurled or do they have one ding slid where the string rests?
The knobs look newer too, but the rest looks like it supposed to be.

The bridge is correct, it has the multiple slots that you can seat the string in. I wasn't sure about the knobs but I don't think they're original. They're not as domed at the top like the ones you posted, they're a little more squared off.

Then it's likely they got replaced at some point. Chrome came off or something... ITS just nitpicking really atleast all the parts that make it sound like a real fender bass are there

And the knobs...

The knurling looks too big also. mine on my 63' look more like grooves cut in and smaller. A lot of the early knobs you can see the knurling wobble up and down slightly as you turn the knob

I play. Have for 20ish years. Just recreationally though. And I still suck. Enjoy the hell out of it. As for this.. Well, This is so far and above me that I feel I would somehow sully it if I held it too long.

That's the bass that put me on the trail that led me to my '63. It plays so beautifully you really get why there's a market for vintage basses.

Man I love the look of that burst. I like how most of the red has faded...sweet for sure.
Also love any very early 60's Precisions.
