I have Daddario Chromes on my '62 Jazz and fretless USA Jazz V (converted--really cool bass). I really like them when the are broken in.

I've always gone with Thomastik-Infeld JF344's for flats on my P's and J's. Great tone, and I love the low tension.

I've tried them all (D'addario chromes, Labella's, Thomastiik, Rotosound, GHS etc) and the new fender 9050L's are by far my favorite on a Fender bass.

I have Precisionflats on my '55 P clone after having tried a couple. I like them the most for sound and playability.

If you're trying La Bellas, I'd start with the 760FL set. That's my favorite La Bella set. TI and Chromes also sound great on P-basses. JohnK mentioned Fender 9050s which I also like, they are similar to Chromes and a little cheaper I think.
