Fender pre-CBS Club: pics mandatory!

Just because I know a lot of the vintage experts hang out in this thread - Vintage detectives - If you had to guess.......
Quick question: what pickguard screws were used on a 1970 Jazzbass? Nickel, chrome or stainless steel?
I think chrome by then, but I'm going by memory from my no-longer-mine '69 Jazz. I think they switched somewhere after CBS took over.

I was browsing eBay and came across some 1959 P Bass parts listed by a seller called sell-it-all-pro.
He has the neck listed at $4,495.0 whereas I was of the opinion the value was around $2,000.00 high retail.
My question is it he or I who needs a reality check?

Yeah. I've bought quite a few vintage basses in the last year or so. They aren't making any more 50's and 60's Fender basses
Do you all have the history of your basses? When I got my 62 p bass I was trying to dig and find out some information.
- My bass came from the Guitar Center in Hollywood, CA
- They said they got it at a Guitar show in San Francisco and I think it was Amigo Guitar Show
That was the extent of what I was able to come across...
Until I found this old reverb ad with my bass Fender Precision 1962 Sunburst.
I know its the same one, same cracks in the pick guard, same dings, same everything.
I contacted the seller who lives in Fairfax, VA and he denied knowing anything about it.
I contacted reverb and let them know, I have looked all over to see if the serial number showed up stolen, but the hunt has ended there with no more info.
Somehow it ended up from VA - CA and then back to me in NC...
I wish I knew more about its long history.

That is a bad item description in that ad! And 8630 dollar for an original 62...?
Sorry but I have my doubts about it being legit.

It was listed a couple of years ago so that may have been the market back then...I got it for even less about 6 months ago. After looking into it, I'm 99.9% sure it's all original. The only thing that might have occurred is a clear overcoat spray at some point.
I got mine ^ (just above your post) in a pawnshop in Grand Forks, ND in the winter of '76 IIR. It was in a condition that would be considered today an awful travesty! Lots of crazy routs to install a humbucker and toggle switch on the lower horn. PG was hacked, the neck (rosewood over maple) was twisted, the finish would be considered a really hard relic today. Back then you couldn't even play something that beat up in the types of clubs I was playing. I had no idea of the age, thought it was a '69, and had no way to date it. So, I bought a NOS '74 P-Bass neck from a Fender authorized repair shop, had the body refinished in thick clear poly and played the heck out of it for 30 years.
Then, after I got on TB I wanted to do a restoration of my '69 - but,with the help of Gruhn (a nice dating surprise!) I fouond out it was a '59 ! and through the TB classifieds, I was able to find a '59 neck - that also needed a complete repair/restore. The bass you see above is the second, final (for me anyways) and far better, restoration that was done to the bass by Ben Lindsey a few years ago. I LOVE it! It plays better than buttah
and sounds awesome with the Sadowsky Blue Label Flats - light gauge.
Then, after I got on TB I wanted to do a restoration of my '69 - but,with the help of Gruhn (a nice dating surprise!)
