Yeah, but… the Dimension looks nothing at all like a Stingray.Exactly. Its that proprietary nature of the MM preamp was largely why I thought the Dimension fell short.....At the time, it was a sound marketing idea by Fender to build their version of something that was very popular from a competitor, and do it within their scope of practice without trudging into lawsuit territory.
Below is a Boeing B-29 and a Soviet Tupolev Tu-4. They have LOTS of differences but I think its pretty obvious what the Soviets were trying to do here......after all, Imitation is the best form of flattery

Possibly - which would be sad, since I thought about it only while I was composing it in the span of about 5 minutes. You put more effort into this than Fender probably does.
Custom shop would totally hook you up with all of that. All I want is a sub 8.5lb P bass with 6230 vintage frets and a rosewood neck.
You know, like a real pre-CBS bass.
And you can paint the thing with latex paint and a brush for all I care...
I went Fender Custom Shop 4 years ago and will never buy another bass.
It's not supposed to, otherwise there would be lawsuits. Like the Ibanez ATK, its a Stingray alternative for those folks......The Dimensions nomenclature, parallel buckers and especially their position(s) are dead giveaways.Yeah, but… the Dimension looks nothing at all like a Stingray.
No it was that good. My bass needs are satisfied. It was that bad?
Anyone else have any predictions for Fender for 2024?
They will finally go all Henry Ford and give you any color you want as long as it’s Antigua.
I didn't know that. I thought the restiction was lifted, outside of certain ones, like cocobolo, bubinga, and obviously, BRW.Yes and no - the rosewood restrictions are mostly still in place, but there’s an exception for musical instruments.
And for an extra $2K I could have bought another real one!; that is also too expensive to take to a bar gig...Custom shop would totally hook you up with all of that.
They’ll even throw it down the stairs and drag it around the parking lot a few times for an extra few bucks!
2024 is the year in which Fender will finally succeed in their long-standing effort to make fretboard/side markers on American Original instruments completely invisible to the human eye.
