Fender Price increase overnight

This is the same Fender that had a record year in 2020, right, and might just have another great year this past one?

How many people commenting on this thread actually have experience working for a manufacturing company, working directly with manufacturing costs, and in this current economic situation? I bet a lot of people are just upset but really have no idea what some manufacturing companies are doing right now to keep people employed and with health insurance. I know we are struggling with the cost inputs and at the same time we want to take care of our people. It’s a struggle without passing the increases on, especially right now. I’ve seen some components double in price, some increase by 500% in a matter of weeks. It’s really hard to plan for that kind of increase. But most people will just complain instead of try to offer a solution, it is a shame.

I might have had a moment sometime in the last 2 years where I came off as whiny over this situation (can't remember any at the moment) but in general my solution was to quietly sidestep the increases by purchasing from someone else (as stated in my previous post here) or lesser known quality gear. I understand the situation manufacturers are in but I also understand there is a dollar amount limit I adhere to for certain items and Fender passed that on all levels of quality a while ago and many others have been following the same route.

I'm just glad I'm in a place where these increases mean nothing to my current playing situation.

Probably have a well paid job and would make less at the equivalent job in a cheaper location... Or, they do move to this much cheaper area, and potentially join others doing so, driving up prices and property tax valuations and negatively affecting the locals

A bunch of scenarios are playing out the last few years.

Make a little less maybe, but save 350k plus on a house. Seems like a far trade.

I feel bad for others buying a new Fender, even though they're freely choosing to do so, but man, I'm damned glad I'm set for life!

You have to move VERY far away to get away from those prices here.
Sometimes so far away that your COLA starts rising from the distance to the rest of humanity... ;-)

The problem is a shortage of housing.

For everyone who "stops" buying at those prices, there's enough people behind them to start a bidding war for those prices and more.

The point is, no one pays that price. It will come down.

In Brazil, Fenders have always been expensive instruments. This has always been the case, and around here, things will never change.

It's Toronto - Someone will ALWAYS pay that price...

In much the same way, if you stop paying "that" price for that Fender bass, someone else will come along and will buy it, anyway.

I actually went to GC at 2pm and caught them relabelling prices. I asked if I could get it at 1499 and he said yes.
But then I realized used is the only way to go anymore for American stuff.

Some people pay those prices because Fender has kept increasing prices over the past 30 years or so.

GC exclusive? Who told you that? I bought mine in october from Sam Ash for $1449.

You dang betcha she did. She moved out of a 750 square foot one-bedroom apartment, and the mortgage payments are lower than the rent on a 900 square foot, two-bedroom apartment in Denver. She gained some room, a second bedroom and an additional half-bath plus laundry gear, and her payments are lower than rent on a comparable apartment.

The market is what it is. Denver real estate has appreciated fast.

And probably happy to have found something under 500k.

Absolutely! A 900 square foot home that was newer and nicer than her half of a 1900-built duplex would probably top a half-million.

When the gas prices went up that means the plumber or delivery person’s costs went up. Pay attention and ask why did they go up. I will say we the regular people pay for these excesses.

No doubt many businesses are doing it tough in the pandemic and prices may be adjusted in attempts to compensate. However, any system or ideology adopted en masse will be perverted to advantage by those who seek to advance themselves without conscience. Rapid Antigen Tests in Australia are being sold at outrageous prices because people need them. Not because they are costly to produce.

I bought a Vintera 70's that was a store demo. My tech looked at the neck, then scanned it on PLEK. Totally shaged. Truss Rod maxed out and you'd still have to file some frets to the board to even remotely have it straight. Obviously returned it. After that, I was hesitant to order another one at full price (this one was $150 off). Now I see the price is $1249. Yikes.

I aslo hate the store policy of changing the price on already in-stock items like GC was doing mentioned above from before the price increase. That is ********.

Yours is Fretless and sold everywhere. GC is the only store with the FRETTED rosewood jazz in dark knight.
