Love the new Rumble setup, but I could never ditch the Hartke stuff. It's been too good to me over the years, and its paid for lol. Plus Larry is awesome so... Also, I plan on trying a rig of doom this weekend at the house. I'm going to run left and right out of my Zoom b3. Left side to the clean Hartke rig, right out to the dirty Rumble. Each amp set up is 500 watts. Hehe

Yes, I know how to use the search engine and believe me I am a research junkie so if what I am asking has been answered and I just could not find it? I apologize in advance.

I have a Hartke B600 combo amp and I enjoy it BUT I entered a music store and tried out some other amps just to see because while I am learning the instrument, I am also seeking a tone that pleases me which will serve me in the longer run but also immediately as it just makes the growth process that much better if I love the sound THAT much more.

Because I like the Orange guitar amps and yeah, I will admit to LOVING the color/look I tried an Orange Crush 25 and 50 out but hated that it simply was not a sound I loved.

So, I eyed up Fender Rumbles and from seeing so much Rumble Club business I decided to try them on for size.

The Fender Rumble 40 blew me away with its sound. Ear to ear stuff.

So, naturally with eyes big as saucers and my ears feeling like that first time I stayed up too late and saw a Cinemax offering; I tried the 500 on for size.

It was amazing and so good that I could not believe it.

They were out of the 100s and 200s so I was unable to sample either of those.

Correct me if I am way wrong (seriously, I will gleefully admit not knowing before I will ever claim knowing what I do not) but I believe the Rumble 40 would be more on par with my Hartke B600. So here come the questions.

1. In any of your estimated opinions would I be stupid to just go with the Rumble 40 or just go for the 100 if I am okay with a combo amp solid enough for solo practice/ small jam sessions and no ext cab possibilities while having more power than what I currently have and what the 40 would provide?

2. If I am willing to go right for the 100, should I just go for the 200 instead since it has slightly more power (140W from my research without additional speakers) BUT the wonderful ext cab possibilities for future growth/playing with others and having enough to be heard?

3. If the answer is to go for the 200 should I just go for the 500 and call it a day?

4. For solo practice I have zero need nor desire to crank it ridiculously and they do have volume knobs for such a purpose but would a Rumble 500 NOW be just absolute overkill and insane or would that be a wise investment since it would be capable of growing with me and providing me with killer tone and headroom now while retaining the ability to play with a band standalone as well as adding ext cabs if ever such a need came up?

I am not trying to just buy the biggest most powerful amp for no reason at all or because I have a need or desire to dime something and create mayhem. I so loved the tones of the 40 and the 500 that I feel the Rumble Club is more for me than my current Hartke as well as the Oranges and Ampegs I tried (combo amps all as I did not sample any head/cab options).

I would assume the 100 would make way more sense than the 40 but please advise me otherwise.

After that tell me what you think as far as 100, 200 or 500.

As for what I truly want?

I want that Rumble sound, headroom and capability to be more than just my basement/bedroom amp as I grow and by that I mean I view it as an investment in that this amp would be there for me as I can jam with others, potentially practice with a band and so forth.

(last question for now)

5. Based on all of the above, would the 200 be the best bet given that it isn't as powerful as the 500 but yet more than the 100 while having ext cab capabilities or would it make sense to go with the 100 and then simply retain that as my practice amp and invest in something more powerful when the absolute need arises?

So, as you can see from my King James version of a post I am trying to see if price wise it would make more sense to go for the 100 instead of the 40 and then look for more down the road or if it would be wiser to look at the 200 and 500 straight away.

I would just go straight for the 500. I had the 200, which is a great amp, but was always wishing I'd spent just a little bit more to get the 500. At some larger gigs i had to really push it to keep up with the rest of the band and i didn't feel comfortable cranking it that much and was worried about blowing my 115 Rumble speaker. Eventually, i added a 410 which, as you correctly state, allowed me to gain the full 200watts, instead of the diminished 140watts you get when using one cab.

Even so, i would still have got the 500 if i could have my time again.

There is a school of thought that says you should get a smaller combo amp for rehearsing/bedroom use. That's fine if you want to spend the cash and have room in your home to keep 2 rigs but i would say that, if you got the 500 plus one cab (115 or 410), it would be small enough and certainly light enough to use at home, no problem. As you say, it's got a volume knob (and headphone socket) so use it! My 15 year old son has inherited my 200 amp and 115 cab (i had to sell the 410) and he is perfectly happy using it at home for practice or taking it to gigs with his band. Hope this helps.
