I'm wondering if you would be so kind as to tell me how your TBird sounds through the 500c? I play TBirds too, and have been really wanting the 500c and a 210cab. I tried one at our local store, but they didn't have a Bird in stock. I know I should just take my own and play it, but I would love to hear(no pun) your opinion! Thank you!

Not meaning to cause any consternation, but that does NOT look like the original shipping carton.o_O
No it wasn’t. I had my suspicions when it was two days late and saw the box was big enough for two. The spot where they cut the original call tag off the old carton and taped it to the new one was a dead giveaway too. FedEx did, in fact, fess up. Firing it up this morning. I’m not the type to get all bonkers over the box, as long as the contents survived unscathed. Contrary to a recent long winded thread around here

Exactly the rig I'm running (500c/210 extension). I have 3 Birds and 5 other assorted basses. With all 8 it's no problem getting a sound I like. Angry Piano, fat P bass, modern etc. Just gotta play with the knobs and experiment.

Will do! I’m having my first test run with my band tonight. I’m also thinking of adding a 210 or 115 extension as well, further down the road. I have labella tapewounds on my bird, so my tone is woody and thick. I don’t go for a bright or midrangey sound. I keep my tone knob fairly low and only dial it up to 10 when I need more ‘attack’ sound. Just wanted to throw that out there because how it sounds to me may differ from what you may experience with a different setup.

At home: It sounded clear and deep to me and a nicely represented my bass. One problem: my room was literally rattling and I wasn’t able to get a full assessment on my tone. My initial thoughts were thst it sounded great. This will change tonight, when I practice in a fully insulated room. I’ll report back!

I run flats on all my basses except my Ibanez semi-hollow which has D'Addario tapewounds. I get just the sound I want on my R200-at the house-then change it all on the gig, whichever 'Bird or other I use. AAARRGH!:banghead:

Maybe you could publish some of your favorite settings in the Fender Rumble Tone Pool.
Ahh, if only it were that simple... I get a great sound at the house, have to completely change it at group rehearsal to work with the room and the group mix, completely changes again depending on the room we're gigging in. Constantly moving target. I just tweak till I get a sound I like and go from there. I go wireless so at least I can walk out front occasionally to see what it actually sounds like.

That is extremely doubtful - I'm sure they have an opening that would accommodate a small shot of D5, but you probably have to do some disassembly to access it...

To me it makes sense. And the digging is not trivial. To me, the chances of finding a pot that resembles an ancient guitar style pot on a modern device is highly doubtful.

I have/ had several Rumble v3s. All of them have had a noisy pot at one point or another. All I do is crank it up and down and it goes away until it comes back. It's curious, slightly annoying and mostly harmless. I would not seek service or return it. The probability of getting another v3 that exhibits the same thing is high in my experience.
Mine does that too, master volume knob. I crank it back and forth to work out the scratchiness, pretty much goes away. Doesn't make noise while playing it so to me it's really a non issue.

This may be it:

Well, getting at the pot's openings definitely requires some disassembly work, but that opening is definitely there - after all, there is always an opening for the pot's terminals to exit, right? That's where you would apply the D5...

OK, I see atleast 2 openings for the application of pot cleaner/lube... That is not what *I* would call a "sealed pot" - and in fact, I'm not sure such a thing even exists...

Choose from:

- open case.
- Extract pot from front panel.
- spray deoxit.
- twist knob
- reassemble

Or:

- twist knob

Hey guys,

Anyone have a problem with the distortion on their rumble farting out and/or clipping? I just got a rumble 40 and whenever I turn the distortion and gain pretty high (not max, mind you) it makes a weird clipping sound (see below)

Note that this happens even at a very very low volume. I never cranked the thing yet. No problem on clean sound.

Tried a different bass and a different cable.

I'd appreciate any advice!
