Fender Rumble Club

Bought mine (500Combo) new in October 2017 here in Australia. It was shipped to me from 450 miles away in another city and arrived exactly as the pictures you showed. Same Fender box, same foam corner protectors, inside a large plastic bag, etc etc. and it is new not refurbished. The 115 cab came packaged the same way in a similar box. Both boxes were marked on the side "Made In Indonesia".

FYI: The gain and volume pots are the same part. If you ever need a part number, just call Fender and they pull up the drawing and give you the #.

My experiences: I have the scratchy pot on my 100V3 as well. When I got it 2 years ago I used contact cleaner which didn't solve the problem, just made it turn much smoother. I usually set the master volume of the Rumble at a fixed level and use the volume knob on my bass so it hasn't bothered me.

Reading this post I thought to give it another try with DeOxit. I sprayed from both the out- and inside and the result is that the scratchy noise is still there but the pot now turns very, very smooth. Ultra smooth. Too smooth and light to my liking. It even wobbles a bit. The other pots are more stiffer but have a nice firm feeling. The master pot feels very cheap now, like a cheap toy. Apparently the cleaner did get inside the pot, didn't solve the problem and created another.

So YMMV but I can not recommend it.

BTW: I have cleaned a lot of dirty pots of old audio gear and DeOxit usually does the trick.
A factory new amp having dirt in a brand new pot seems unlikely to me.
Inferior material used for the internal wiper or element or a production error seems more likely.
I read somewhere about salt corrosion from overseas shipping or storage but that only conforms the material theory.

BTW2: great you got the part number from Fender but only Darren Riley shows up with a Google search and Invalid Link Removed for this item. So, it is still a search where to get one.

I used heat to bend a couple of the red straws that come with D5 - one at a right angle, the other into a J hook - to reach into tight places... I can usually move one of those into position, then shoot a small amount of D5 into the opening for the terminals, and be good to go... If that doesn't do it, the pot needs to be replaced - which as you now know, is a bit more involved...

I agree that the pots on these amps are pretty cheap - although IME spraying too much D5 into a pot can cause more harm than good, and it should never be sprayed into the shaft area...

A REALLY quick-n-dirty floor stand for my Rumble 100. This is really handy for listening when sitting in a comfy chair and eliminates floor coupling, sometimes a good thing. Disregard the spot on top from my chocolate lab's need to lick everything. I grabbed a couple scraps of walnut and knocked this off in about 30 minutes. I may eventually get around to finish sanding and applying some finish, but since it's under the amp that might get relegated to the "...one of these days..." projects.

I just picked up a Rumble 100! This was my first bass amp many years ago but I sold it to fund my current rig. However I saw the rumble at a store and I had to pick it up as I kinda missed using it. However this one I just bought doesn’t seem to have a switch to turn off/on the LED lights like my old one did. On this one the lights are always on....was this a different generation or what?

Believe that is an early V1 before the light was removed.

Ok this one lights up but I can’t turn them off. Which is kind of disappointing. My original rumble was identical to this one except it had a switch on the back that turned the lights off and on. Oh well I could just add a switch. I was just surprised that there wasn’t a switch and thought all the V1 Rumble 100 1x15 were all the same.

I haven't come across one with a switch...but most of my Rumble owning has been V2s...
How does it sound? All functional? Good.deal?

Chiming in on the whole "shipping" thing. I was in the trucking industry(OK, I drove)for 23 years. Many businesses have gone to "Just in Time" shipping and delivery. That means-for those who don't know-the business doesn't have a warehouse full of stuff. It comes from centralized bulk warehouses "just in time" for the businesses needs(saves them warehouse space). One of my amps(no, I don't remember which one) that I ordered I asked the sales guy which of their facilities it would come from and he told me it was a "drop ship" from a central Fender warehouse. Because one had Sweetwater tape on it, it may have come from them or it's possible the shipper has tape from AMS,MF,Sweerwater,or whoever.:)
