Fender Rumble Club

As far as I am concerned, you have no need to apologize for anything. You brought your concerns to the only forum available at this time. As an early adopter, I congratulate you for your openness and positive attitude. You are a pioneer and, with the support of Fender, you will be able to come back to us with the knowledge that, at least I, do not have at this time and help make informed decisions in the future.

I hope you contact Fender, get a resolution and let (at least me) know what to expect in the future.

Rumble On :thumbsup::thumbsup:.

When I get it, I'll have it, and it will be here for all of us. Oh yeah I'm gonna get it... um, now bout that Bootsy Preset

No need @Franklin Henry. You have a legitimate issue that deserves prompt attention & resolution. This club is for all Rumble owners; those that used to own Rumbles, those that will own Rumbles again, those that will not publicly admit to owning a Fender Rumble, and even a couple of individuals that simply cannot afford a Rumble or Rumbles are not available to them in their part of the world.
I agree. I only have the 500C and don't own any or the new models, but i'm finding it interesting reading the answers and questions to the problems faced by users of the new products. I'm sure the info provided by all you Studio and Stage owners is helping others who may own these amps and may not have contributed to the posts. I think a separate thread is a great idea for the new modelling amps to sort out the issues you are all having. Even so I don't believe the Rumble club has disrupted usual readers at all, and as a few of you have stated isn't this is what the club is all about anyway...helping each other sort out problems. I am actually quite proud of all you guys helping each other with these issues even though I barely understand what you're all talking about loll I need to buy an 800 to find out I guess..but by the time I manage that here in Australia you guys will probably have sorted out the problems and all I need to do is read up on how you all overcame them.
Well done club members for technically helping each other out as it must be frustrating on your own without help. Newer owners are coming here and checking these pages for answers as well, so my guess is that they feel a great deal of relief to see its not just them that's having problems.
Starting a separate thread for these specific problems would be a step in the right direction to consolidate all the problem owners and for your own peace of mind that other Rumble Club issues wont be interfering with your remedies, after-all it will just be an extension of this main club. The bigger this club gets the better it gets, and that's because of it's members.

There has only been about 5 or 6 of us that have had some problem. One just needed a simple reboot of his router = not a Fender issue. Two of us had/have phones of stone and are not advanced enough to run the tone app = not a Fender issue. Fender did have a Tone App issue that is now fixed. As far as my Studio 40 is concerned, I have nothing but praise for the little beastie.

So I have noticed a quirky thing with my Studio 40 and Bluetooth. When I connect the Bluetooth to play music through the amp I cannot connect with the Tone App. So what I do in that case is disconnect the Bluetooth with my phone and then connect with the Tone App. Seem weird but that works for me. I am on a Google Pixel with the latest OS. Not sure what it does with other devices in this regard.

Yes, that is the way it works. One or the other, but not both at once.

That was one of the suggestions, on one of the many pages I read . I unpaired all devices with exception of my mobile phone. I was not sure how to control the amo or app without the blue tooth. Would that be wifi? I really cant control anything with app solely, because I cant move past registration screen. This question, is one of the questions that haunt me, just because I really dont understand how the app can function without the phones blue tooth ... ???

@Franklin Henry, maybe you should disconnect your Bluetooth before connecting to the Tone App, via wifi? Or did I miss where you said you're doing that?

hey guys, I have an Ibanez sr300e and a Fender rumble 40 amp, I'm just wondering what eq/ general settings I should go for if I want to get a tone somewhat similar to Tim Commerford without buying new stuff. if someone with a rumble 40 or better could even send me a picture of the correct settings that would be great.

It just so happens I do have one of those basses, though I've never tried to go directly for his tone before. I put flats (Chromes) on my Ibanez so I don't think I'll be able to help emulate the tone, and I've got a Rumble 500 so it'd probably be slightly off anyway.

If you're looking for the Stingray tone this bass won't do it. The pickup just isn't far enough from the bridge to get a comparable tone. So I'd put it into the boosted jazz bass mode, so coil switch all the way down. No reason why you couldn't put it in non-boosted jazz mode though, I just preffer to get the volume boost.

Try it with the treble notched but cut it if things are too bright. Bass should be around 6, enough to thicken the sound without getting it muddy. Mids I'm actually unsure about for the bass. I remember them being pretty agressive with rounds so notched or a slight cut is probably going to be best. I'd probably pluck the strings just past the bridge pickup on the neck side.

Set the amp gain 12/3 o'clock (boosted/non-boosted), bass 12-1 o'clock (might need more on the little 40), start with both mids around 2 o'clock, add more high mids if you need more clank, low mids if you want more punch, treble at 12.

When using the OD I'd go for maxing out the drive and cutting back the level.

The key will be making the Ibanez sound like a jazz bass, and it will happily do that with a bit of bass and some attention to the mids. Picking closer to the bridge pickup should give you the attack you need. The higher gain should give you a bit of compression. And the OD set like that should match up nicely to his blended OD. The amp probably just needs some boosted mids.

It might not be a perfect match but that's where I'd start from if I was trying to emulate his jazz tone. Good luck!:bassist:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh No. The Gain control is all boost. With the gain all the way down is the only non-boosted setting. The amount of gain also effects the OD and Vintage voicing. Go to the Rumble Wiki page and find the Rumble Talk on Gain Structure. Proper gain structure is critical to getting the best from your V3 Rumble especially if you are playing an active bass.

Once again, no. The level is a volume control for the OD effect and it is for setting unity gain so that the volume is the same when the OD is engaged and when it isn't. Getting the best out of the OD often requires very subtle settings combined with low gain such as emulating the low end distortion & grind of an all tube amp. Yes, there's a Rumble Talk.

thanks man, I appreciate that, seriously. you reckon I could add to the tone, and match it better with any pedals? if so what pedals would you suggest?

also, with the boosted jazz mode, are you saying to put the pickup select knob all the away down, and then put it in power tap mode?

I still use it for practice and small gigs. Easy carry and line out to FOH makes it a no brainer. Lots of presets and built-in tuner controlled by 4-button footswitch is very convenient.
