Fender Rumble Club

Hey, everyone.
I’ve been busy lately and haven’t had a chance to post some thoughts about my Rumble rig.
I was going to until I had another Rumble adventure:
I got caught off guard with an open mic last night and didn’t have time to get my amp from home.
Luckily, this is what they had:

It sounded great!
Is this a v2 Rumble im guessing?
Sorry about the fuzzy pic.
Looks like a Rumble 60-v1 based on the front panel.

Yes, that's a V2 Rumble. Can't read the model number, though.

So a six hour drive for work put me in business (finally!) to try the V3 rumbles, in a quiet Guitar Center no less! I’m now the proud owner of a Rumble 40 v3 in addition to my Rumble 150 v2. When I get back home I’m going to try running the 40 into the effects loop of the 150 and pretty much try to use the 150 as a powered extension cabinet. Hopefully I won’t run into any issues. Apologies for not taking it out of the box yet, but you guys already know what it looks like.

Hell yeah! Or should I say yee-haw? Let me know how running it into an FX loop works.

Is that tab sticking out from the grille cloth used for removing it? I'm actually not a fan of the classic Fender look. Well, I am, but I already own guitar amps that look like it. I want a more modern/hard rock type of look.

I have a friend with a new Rumble who got that sample pack and one of them did match to his satisfaction. He ordered a roll and re-grilled his older extension cab. It looks like a match to all who've seen it. But, yeah, YMMV.

In addition to rushing out and buying Silver cloth that did not quite match my new 115, I subsequently did get a sample pack from one of the vendors as you suggested. [yeah, I should have done that to begin with...]

The black sample matched my 800c perfectly, but the Silver-Silver Sparkle-Black sample did not exactly match the new 115. So, not locating a source for perfectly matching the 115 Silver grill cloth, I may just go all stealth-black...and that would be just fine. But my first choice was classic silver.
Last call, has anyone successfully purchase the new Fender Silver-Silver Sparkle- Black grill cloth to match the current Rumble line?

I wouldnt really mind not having the seperate controls, im just seeing if theres a cheaper alternative to buying a 200! I think though with the cost of a (good) splitter, i might just as well bite the bullet and do it.
May the Schwartz be with you.

Been my experience in trying to save a bit of coin, I end up spending more than I wanted.

More than a few times I would buy an amp I think would do the job only to find out in a live situation it wouldn't cut it. So I would try adding a cab or chaining another amp to make it. Ended up hauling more and more gear and it got ridiculous. Not to mention the set up and tear down time for all that. Ti only in the end bite the bullet and buy the amp I should have from the start. But in an effort to save coin by adding to what I had or what was least expensive, I ended up shelling out even more and got stuck with a bunch of stuff I wasnt using anymore and had to move.

So in the end, I learned: I'd rather have it and not need it and need it and not have have it.

So I aim higher than I should and never have to sweat it if the amp will perform correctly and be heard. Plus I like easy load in and outs. I rather have to not push the amp too hard and push it to failure. I've done that too many times now.

Tonight I take the Rumble 500 head and 2x 210v3 cabs on their maiden voyage of rehearsal. I've been holding off and using my new GK MB212II for the rehearsals and last gig. But the room set up, the GK is just pushing sound into the back of my knees. The rest of band hears me just fine, but all I hear is boom notes. Hoping the 210 vertical stack will put some full range in my ear.

Fender are already making a powerful hybrid amp, I just wish they would size it down. They're still huge, like a Marshall head:

I have one. It isn't that big and doesn't weigh much. It is designed to look like old school Fender Amps. If you want smaller, get a Rumble 500. Same power section, just lacks the tubes and a few EQ knobs.

After I return the problem Rumble v3 100 combo to GC and exchange with Squier Fretless Pbass, I decide get the 200/150 combo again.
But, since I back to GC yesterday and have a try with Ampeg micro SVT and Tech21 VT combo....... I check out with this. I passed the Fender Rumble v3 once again.

So much same, with so many different things. For the past 7 or so years I've made a pact with myself; if it's what I really want I buy it and I'll figure out the money if I need to.

In that time I've sold 1 amp and 2 basses. One of those basses I didn't follow my rule with, I wanted the used SR805 they had there but it was $300 more and didn't sound as punchy as the SR300E so I saved the coin and now I'm going to look at high end Ibanez basses till I find one I like.

I'm quite happy with my SR Premium:

I'm quite sure I enjoy the Nordstrand's in this over the Bartolini's they're putting in the Prestige series.

I have tried BTBs with the higher end Bartolini's in them & the Big Singles just have more "stank" in them.

I want to report that I just had to defend the integrity and valor of our sweet Rumble in another thread. The amount of ignorance and uninformed contempt for the Rumble is wide spread. We must fight the good fight whenever it manifests before us. Do not remain silent! Stand your ground!

People can think what they want about Rumbles. When I play mine I think why would I even bother with a tube amp? Or any other amp for that matter?

I've never played a Tech 21 amp, but aren't they supposed to be more Geddy Lee sounding? Enjoy your NAD!:bassist:

I think why would I even bother with a tube amp?

I bought a boutique 12" cabinet & a small tube amp, A/B'd it to my Rumble & TBH I wasn't missing anything.
However, side-by-side with a Bassman 100T (all-tube), there is a difference. Whether that difference is worth over $1K is up to the end user.

If the silver is your first choice, and it has to match exactly, why not also replace the silver on your new 115 with whatever silver cloth you bought?

Beautiful bass! It's on my short list. The SR2600 looks so pretty that it's really tempting too (and what I may ultimately buy). I've thought about the BTB's as well, I'd really need to try one though.

I’m glad you found something that works for you - Happy NAD! What I don’t understand, though, is why you would post it here. If you don’t want a Rumble in your life, that’s fine - many don’t. But why would you suppose that members of this club would be interested in what you got instead?
