Welcome Rumbler #973! All the Rumbles from the 40 up have the same preamp section. The 40 has one 10 and the 500 has 2. I own one of each and if you like the 40, you'll like the 500. If your playing with the typical Rockabilly configuration (3 piece), the 200 may be enough. Rumble on!

I got new pickups, so I was really experimenting with the settings on my v3 100c. I found i only like the amp now with the vintage button on. Am i the only one?
You should try it with an old US P bass. You'd be amazed how it sounds with the vintage. Fender Rumble could make tube amps obsolete! Well, I'll never get rid of mine, but still.

Fender are already making a powerful hybrid amp, I just wish they would size it down. They're still huge, like a Marshall head:

Welcome to the Club, @Custard cat. I can give you an unequivocal and unqualified "Yes" that the Rumble 500 combo will, indeed, give you all the volume you are likely to need. By itself, at 350 watts into those two 10" speakers you may even be turning down more often than cranking up! And don't let anyone tell you it won't turn down enough, either, it will. Or, if you still need more volume, adding an 8-ohm extension cab will give you the full 500 watts!

There are many here that say the 200 combo, with one 15” speaker at 140 watts, is plenty for their use in gigging bands, and that they prefer the sound they get having to "push" the amp a bit hard by turning way up.. However, at least one player was sorely disappointed that the 200 was not nearly enough for his needs, although I don't recall if he ever even added a cab with a second 15", a favorite addition here, to get the full 200 watts. I don't think he even tried the XLR out to PA for support!

But, if you really want to be sure of having enough volume, with a heavy handed drummer and/or loud guitarist(s) or keys or large venues, then the 500 is definitely the way to go. It works for me and many others here. Good luck.

The Rumble 40 and 500 sound very much the same, having the same preamp section and virtually identical drivers. If you’re happy with the 40, the 500 won’t disappoint.

You're right, KBD, my Bassman 500 is a bit bulky with that classic head look. But that's one of the extras about it that I really love! And have you actually lifted one? It really does weigh about the same as the Rumble 15!!!

Is the Bassman 800, at about the same weight as the 500, more appropriate for that size? ;)

I assume they weigh the same, or very close. Adding 300 Watts to a Class D power amp shouldn't require much extra weight or space.

The 100 All-Tube is almost 50 lbs., though.
probably mostly from the transformers

Yeah, the BM100T weighs as much as three BM500s or 800s! And the SB300 is another 15 lb.s more than the 100T. My aching back thanks the inventor(s) of the Class D. And Neo. And Rumbles!

Does Anyone here run 2 rumble 100c amps with a ABY signal splitter?

My 100 is enough for 80-90% of my gigs, but considering a little "plan B" for the bigger ones. Financially it makes more sense to just add another 100, over buying both a 200 and extension cab.

Any electrical/sound drawbacks to this idea? I do recognize that I'd be upgrading to a 15" with the 200. I also have wondered about just trying a 200 on its own, and see if that's enough. We do always use PA support on the bigger gigs.

Thanks y'all! Keep on rumblin

That is an absolutely beautiful bass. On my list for years. I wish Fender made the 115 extension cab the same dimensions as the 200c! Very nice set up. Perfect with the Gibson.

I understand you COULD turn the 200 combo on it's SIDE and it would be a perfect fit on top of the 115 cabinet. No problem with running the 200 combo on it's side........

My thoughts too, also the 100 is lighter than the 200 or 500. And what a perfect stereo setup, or intermittent stereo with a tape emulating delay with modulation on one of the amps...or overdrive on one, really exploit your new Source Audiostereo fuzznick... You can put them on top of each other or use one for a remote drum monitor or something.
I use a Jamman with 2 lines out for line splitting, or any stereo effect. TC Chorona is a place to start. ABY splitters are apt to be unreliable.

If your ABY doesn't have a isolation transformer and/or ground lift, you might get ground loop noise.
Another option is to run the Effects Send of Amp A into Amp B's Effects Return.
As I've said b4, I love my 200C, esp. w/ the 112, but if I'd known the the 2-100's A-B trick, I mighta gone that route.( didn't find Rumble Club-or TB- 'til after I got the 200C in 2015) 1 for most gigs, both when needed.

I haven't bought a splitter yet, good to know. Open to suggestions and alternatives.
Also tried the effects loop trick with my smaller ampeg, but couldn't get them both to sound at the same time...

I was thinking that too.... the savings of that set up might not be worth the headache. I use combos for a reason: ease and convenience.

This is how the Rumble Effects loop is wired, so you can send from Amp A to Amp B w/o disconnecting the signal to the power amp in Amp A.

You can plug into Send w/o breaking the signal chain, but when you plug into Return it breaks the connection from the preamp to the power amp.
So, the EQ & Gain section on Amp B would be disconnected in the scenario I outlined.

Also, to check for ground loop noise, all you need is a mono y-splitter like this:
s-l300.jpg

plug the male end into Amp A, & run a instrument cable to Amp B from one of the female connections.
but first make sure both outlets are at the same potential, to safeguard against a shock
If you haven't got a multimeter or don't know how to check, get one of these:

BTW, that advice about checking the Voltage & polarity of the outlets applies to using a ABY switch also.

If memory serves me, i think i put a return cable back to amp 1. So all i need is one cable, send to return? Then i get the power/master of amp 2, but not gain/ EQ?

Also, ive seen those y splitters before. Could i use that to run into 2 amps? I would assume a splitter pedal might have some power to boost the signal?

No. ALL tone and volume are controlled by amp 1/A. The Fender Wiki page explains it clearer-er:thumbsup:
