Fender Rumble Club

The cab simply has cups that line up with the feet of the Rumble heads, and I believe there happen to be magnets in the cups and feet for added security. The "locking system" sounds like marketing sizzle. Heads don't just rattle off of cabs unless something is wrong with the cab. You should be fine just setting the Showman on top.
No, that isn't correct. The Fender Rumble Magnetic Attachment System. The feet and cups on the mountings system provide alignment. but there are no magnets there. The magnet is located in the cabinet midway between the cups. There seems to be a bar magnet, mounted under the tolex midway between the cups staring at about a 1/4 and running to 3/4 of the distance front to back. I discovered this while attempting to duplicate the mounting system for a tuner.

Wow! Really going back in time for that correction. But better late than never. So, how did your tuner mounting system turn out? Got pix?

I'm just starting it. I found the incorrect information while doing a google search. Once I found the information here was incorrect I investigated further and found the magnet in the middle. I've ordered the magnet I need and have found a cabinet maker to build it. Once the magnet gets here I'll start the process. I'm very confident the system will work.

Hmmm, so, is the cabinet routed out so the top of the magnet is flush with the surface of the wood? Are you having a speaker cabinet or a tuner cabinet, or both, built? Can you please share pix, when available?

I'm not tearing my tolex off to find out, but the cabinet seems to be routed out to accept the bar magnet. and have it flush with the wood. The magnet can be epoxied in the rout and filled to make everything flush, and then the tolex applied over it all. I'm just having a tuner cab built, it will match the Rumble system so I can attach the tuner to the Rumble cab, and the Rumble head to the tuner. The tuner cab will be much deeper than the tuner itself so the head can sit on top. I don't want the tuner on top because it would stick out over the ends of the head and be susceptible to tipping. I'll try to get pics of the build, but I'm having a pro do it. I don't know how cooperative, or mindful of pictures he'll be.

I bought my 200 combo on release, so it's over 3 years old. My knobs are like-new. No stickiness at all. But...the amp has never been out of the house.

Must be an environmental issue, like playing bars/clubs that still permit smoking.

Caution is advised! Old engineers like me don't die. We don't even fade away. We just keep solving problems. Other peeps problems. Often without asking first. :rollno:

Nope, no bars nor clubs with smoking. More outdoor gigs than anything, and indoor bar smoking is illegal here in FL. It only did this after it sat in my air conditioned studio for about a year.

Heat might be a thing, but when I was using the amp a lot the knobs weren't like this. I have several plastic items that have gotten like this, a TV remote and even the air bag cover on the dashboard of my car. I guess some plastics just do this, but i can't figure out why me, twice, and no one else...

I got pedal knobs that look like the tone knob of a jazz bass. I ordered them about a week after I got the head and threw the original knobs in the trash. That's why I don't have that issue.

Very cool, Sissy! I totally understand. But, if your pro isn't averse to the advertising, we'd love to see a custom tuner cab built to attach to the Rumble magnetic system. You didn't say, but I assume they'll put cups and magnets on the top of the tuner cab to "attach" the head?

BTW, I don't see you having posted here before today. If you'd like to join the Club, we'd love to have you. Just say so, and @Gravedigger Dav will be around with your membership number.

I do not know the answer to that question, but I can ask!

So, I did ask, and here are the deets according to Fender:

"The simple answer is the 115 cabinet was designed to match the footprint and complement the 410 with both supporting the Rumble head models. The 210 and 112 extension cabs with footprints matching the combos launched later to support both the combos and the heads, and having unique speaker complements for our cabinet offerings was preferred rather than 2 (size) versions with a 1x15."

Welcome Rumbler #976 ! I didn't see you ask for a number, but if you own any Rumble gear and come to this thread, you get a number. So, show us what you've done when it's done. Sounds interesting. Rumble on!
