Fender Rumble Club

Sure is. Best combination a lot of Rumble owners seem to think is the best although most Rumble combinations with ext. cabs like a 200C plus a 115 or 2x10, 4x10 etc seem very popular too. The consensus is that Fender Rumble owners support the facts that there are no bad cominations of Combos and Extension cabs. I love the power, depth, clarity and weight of this 500C and 115 every chance I get to use it.

Yea, I just got the 200c but already thinking about what to do if I need more. I could add a 1x15 Rumble cab but that's only another 60 watts. I could actually get a used 500 head and used 1x15 cab for what I paid for the 200c, and I would have 210 more watts right off the bat and a full 500 watts with an additional cab rather than just 200 watts. Not sure what I want to do but the 500 head for $279 seems too good to pass up.

There are IMO two main reasons to pick the 200c - 1. Portability and weight, and 2. That you don’t require that much power. Mind you, with a 115 extension cab, the 200c is no slouch.

I agree that the 500 head with 115 cab is a more powerful and flexible solution, but also heavier. Also remember that the Rumble 115 is rated for 300W continuous while the 500 puts out 350 at 8 Ohms.

Thanks, It's an Epiphone Vintage Pro. I'm an old guy learning to play bass, been taking lessons for a year, loving it. For me it's all the bass amp I'll ever need. I like the sound and Wi-Fi connectivity. (I may have an obsessive compulsive disorder.)

Not sure I’ve seen you in the T-bird Club. Diverse group of folks over there with discussions about everything but politics. And we get into some Thunderbird stuff too. Gone Plaid’s a regular there too.

Hey @RobertHutton , pay a visit to the Thunderbird club whenever you like. The Vintage Pro gets a lot of love, and yours looks great!

I would love to join the Thunderbird club do I need a link?

My MK did come with roundwound phosphobronzes as far as I could tell. Can’t stand the round wound feel. And they exaggerated every finger movement and fret contact sound. So, D’Addario tapewound were the answer, also to get closer to an upright bass sound. I think the OEM strings were better for unamplified playing, but this thing is too pretty to have around the campfire...
There are days when I think mine should be the campfire.

I had a MK 5 string AEB. Sounded OK acoustically but the pickup wouldn't put out enuff B string(4 string pup?). Plus which, I couldn't get used to the thickness of the hollow body when added to the thickness of my body ( :bag: ). Since I usually stand when playing, it threw me off by being too far away. Sold it to a guy who loved it.

Make that, "the 500 can put out up to 350 at 8 Ohms". A reasonable watch on the Master Volume can keep the 115 safely within it's rated power handling and avoid any danger. And, if more power is needed, a second 115 puts just up to 250 watts into each 300 watt speaker.

I usually prefer to stay on the very conservative side of equipment ratings. But I've come around to the idea that, IME, Fender is conservative enough in their ratings that I don't have to use my usual "belt & suspenders" approach. See my recommendation for Rumble 800 speaker(s), for example.

The B could be better and you really have to sit to play it. It is pretty, though. You always look good playing it.

I've never had my R200c above 1(Master)and 11-ish(Gain)and it's plenty, even outside. Although adding the R112 really sweetened the sound[I love 12s, almost as much as 15s](Rumble 2x12 @ 8ohms????, please)

AFA the 'looking good', maybe it woulda camouflaged my 'tire'.:bag: I prolly shoulda tried D'Addario tapes on it but I knew it wasn't working out for me so I let it go b4 putting extra* $ in it.

*What is "extra" $?

Yeah, Goner, but not every band has that most rare, and highly sought after, of species, the illusive drummeris quietus. ;)

Ours sometimes plays too quiet, but I ain't complainin'!
Edit: There'a sit-in thing I sometimes get coerced into doing. It's outside with vocals only in the PA. I get that the drummer has to play loud in that situation. Our band's gigs are inside for OF's. Except for 2 larger rooms, I can use my R40 and cover the space nicely-still with only voices in the PA. Less stuff to move.

The Rumble 115, like other ported cabinets I guess, needs some minimum power input to get the air pumping and the ports working right. Is that right? It seems to be about 10W minimum. 3 Watts? Just guessing.

Since I can't get too loud I have my 115 sitting in a big soft chair facing into the chair. 40Hz cuts right through the chair nicely, while the rest is suitably muffled.
