Fender Rumble Club

Getting ready to pull the trigger on my Rumble purchase, but I find at the last minute I have a bit of analysis paralysis. I'm torn between the 200 and 500 combo. I am not playing in a band currently, but jam with musicians regularly. I was thinking that the 200 combo would be plenty, but the 500 and it's extra power is attractive. I'm curious - and this may help with a decision. I know that many rumble owners have the 500 combo with the 1x15 extension. But has anyone paired the 200 with the 1x15, or even the 1x12 - and what did you think of it?

200 vs 500: if you want to cover all the bases, get the 500. it's only $100 diff, right? I was leery of the 2x10 thing at first, especially as I am a 15 guy, but the 10s are so good, I actually bought the 500 on the strength of them alone. they kill. very deep and thick - not your average 210 which IMO is mid-heavy. you could buy the head and then go with diff cabs. I liked the combo so much I bought a head too, and this gives me the opportunity to mix and match - I have a few diff cabs. But in the end, it's all 500. you never know what kind of gig you'll end up with, and the last thing you want is to dump a bunch of cash into a head that wheezes along, and you kick yourself for being cheap. been there. for the price, you can't get more power with that sound.

Tried a 200 combo over the weekend at GC. Luckily, it wasn't too busy so there weren't the usual shredders making it a bunch of noise, where I couldn't hear myself. Anyway, ran a SR5 through it and the amp sounded great. I was curious how the amp would handle the low B but it did well. Tried the Vintage channel and gave a nice old school sound that would work with blues, country and classic rock genres (which is what I typically play). Didn't fool around with the Distortion channel too much...probably works great but I was mainly interested to hear what the Vintage channel had to offer.
Now, I'm waiting for the Bassman 500 to come into the shop so I can demo it. I guess it shares some of the same tonal qualities that the Rumble's have.

You play with SR5,wich is a HiFi very modern sound bass and you like the vintage sound.Imagine what happens is you will try it with passive one with flats.

Yeah, if Fender has some then they've certainly made some shipments to retailers by now.

Zzounds.com is showing "More expected Feb 8" (it said Feb 7 yesterday), Musician's Friend is showing "Expected to ship 2-17-2015", and Sweetwater has this:

Fender has informed us that this item has an unusually long shipping delay. Place your pre-order now to reserve yours - if you need a solution fast, call your Sales Engineer to learn about possible alternatives to this product.

Fender shows them in stock, so they should be making their way to retailers & e-tailers.

Thanks. I had ordered through Samash, they gave me the best value on some trade in gear but their site does not have an expected delivery date.

I went to GC today to try out the Rumble 100 and 200 (no 500 in sight). Sat there for over an hour going back and forth. I used a P-Bass, as that's what I own. Finally thought I had settled on the 100, but decided to try out a few others, just for the heck of it. I plugged into a TC Electronic BG250-115 mkII.

Oh my. There was the sound I wanted. DEEP.

I went back to the Rumbles because I really wanted to take one home, but my ears wanted that BG250. I tried the 12" model, nope. The BG250-115 is what I kept coming back to, so that's what I ended up buying. Keep in mind, I am NOT a bassist. I'm a guitar player / keyboardist that plays bass every now and then. My technique (and probably my ear) is for crap. So I'm not saying the BG250 is better, it's just what sounded best to my ears. If they get a 500 in there in the next couple weeks and I like it better, the BG250 will go back.

I just checked the Fender web site, and both the 112 cabinet and the 210 cabinet, which were in stock yesterday, are now out of stock and won't be available again until mid-April. I don't know what this means for the retailers, but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up....

It's possible that Fender just didn't order enough for themselves. Musician's Friend is showing an expected ship date of 2/19 for the 210 cab, so with some searching one could find a cab before April.

I plan on getting the 210 cab as soon as my tax refund shows up.

To confuse things further, I talked to my contact at Sweetwater and he said Fender never had the cabinets in stock...it was a mistake while Fender was setting up their new on line ordering web page. I wonder if anyone ordered off the Fender web site and what the result was.

Rumors fly, but we just wait...
