Fender Rumble Club

Congrats, Grayhook!

Some Questions:

1. Do the drivers appear to be the same between the combo and new cabinet?
2. Can you detect a difference in the wood used for both boxes?
3. Same vinyl covering?
4. Is the new cabinet noticeably heavier than the combo?
5. Is the quality of the new cab better/worse/same as your existing combo?

Thanks man.
1.Yes the drivers appears to be the same.
2.No the same.
3.Yes the same.
4.Not much. My bath scale says 500 combo is 36lbs and the 210 is 41lbs.
5.The quality of the new cab is just as nice as the 500 combo.
With the grill's off you cant tell a differince between them.

The one thing I do see...
The 500 only has sound damping material on the back panel.
The 210 combo has sound damping material on the back and the side panels.

KUDOS for you, Smoove-Groove! I don't know how F.M.I.C. distribution works in Canada. Do containers come in directly to a Canadian west cost port and distribution center? If they're coming into the U.S. first and then on to Canada, I can foresee a long wait.

I received a response from Fender that the port crisis has not had a significant impact on F.M.I.C.'s supply of product. {my paraphrase}. While not explicitly stated, unloading delays have to be a logistical nuisance.

It was confirmed that product output from Ensenada, Mexico is indeed trucked into the U.S. some 200+ miles to F.M.I.C.'s distribution center in Ontario, California.

The extreme popularity of Fender's Champion line of value priced guitar combos, and also their Rumble line of bass amplification has Fender's Indonesian factory running at full capacity, as demand continues to outstrip supply. A good problem for any manufacturer to have.

I was helping a church replace a bass amp, monitors and other gear lost to theft this morning.

They were looking at a 400w Traynor Dyna combo priced at about $1000 Canadian, but coming up short on the overall quote. Talked them into the Rumble 500 combo ($539 Canadian) instead, which gave them the wiggle-room they needed to close the deal.

The Fender isn't as rugged as the Traynor, which is something of a boat anchor. Still, they're not taking their show on the road. Meanwhile, the Fender will sound just as good, or a little better.

Since I had posted here before about my deal with Ampeg vs Rumble and double-duty guitar and bass, I'd like to share my thoughts. It's long-ish, and I don't want to take away from pure Rumble-ness here, so here's a link to my post in another thread about it.
Here's a pic of the Rumble V3 settings (vintage button engaged) for that guitar tone, if anyone is interested:

The conclusion is that I think I'm going to be a future Rumble V3 100 owner!

Ok, everything at noon on the eq, gain at 12 o'clock, master at 9 o'clock. Aside from the obvious volume difference, the 40 sounds "sterile" when flat and no buttons in. I love the 40 set all to noon with the vintage button in and the tone on my p bass rolled almost all the way back, deep and full. The 500 sounds deep and full with the same settings and the vintage button not pushed in. The natural tone of the 500 with everything at 12 and the master at 9 sounds great and fills the bedroom and can certainly be heard throughout the house.

There is definitely a difference in the speakers between the Special Design in the 40 and the Eminence in the 500. The Eminence sound much more like a bass should sound naturally before any eq. The 40 has enough eq and quick buttons to get some great sounds out of it too and I do not regret either purchase. I would not hesitate to take the 40 to a coffee house or some acoustic type gig and it is great for in the house practice. It allows the bass to sound like a bass, not just like a practice amp. That said, the 500 is leaps and bounds better and well worth the extra money.

Been following this thread for a while, now it's time to join !!!

Here my baby. Enjoying its tone to death.

One question, though: I am connecting the Rumble 500 to the Peavey TNT 115. I go from Effects Out on the Rumble to the instrument input jack on the Peavey, then the Low output of the Peavey to its own Pre Amp In, using a small patch cable. Hope you can see it on the blurry pic.

Is this correct? I believe the 115 should be managing the low frequencies only, as I much more prefer the overall tone of the Rumble. Any opinions on that?

It looks like you've turned your peavey into a sub-woofer of sorts. If that patchcord routing is working for you, then good.
