Fender Rumble Club

If you remove the feet from the combo, what will you do when you want to use it without the 210 cab? Anyway, I suspect that the coupling is acoustic.

I would use an amp stand on stage, and the combo sits on top of the 2x10 cab at home. I still have the feet, so I can reinstall them quickly, if I needed to. The combo sounds so good with the matching cab, I don’t think I’d want to play without it now. Hah.

I have a Rumble 15 and it's really loud for the size of it. This is the first practice amp I've had since one that I bought in the 80's. I quit playing Bass for years and when I started again I got the Rumble 15. Is it just me or are practice amps way louder than they used to be?

Hi. Thanks for the welcome. I can't take a picture cuz my wife has our cell phone and she went away for the March Break with the kids and got quarantined in a different city and I don't know when she'll be back.

Thank you very much and thanks for the kind words.
You like my nickname? Haha. I got that a long time ago in the first band I was in. I use a pick and i pick so hard that when I hit the open E string the whole room shook and things vibrated off shelves. One time we were
jamming in this guys house and the vibrations from my Bass knocked these ceramic trinkets off his wife's shelf! She was not happy and Thundertips was born.

A well-earned nickname!

Thanks. At the time I was just using a Yorkville Sound BLOC80B turned up as loud as it would go without blowing it. You could feel it more than you could hear it! Haha. Then I got the Fender 200 Watt Head on top of a 4-10 and a 1-15. If I stood close to the 1-15 cab and hammered the open E the movement of air would move my pant legs a little bit! Haha.

Yes. More efficient speakers, better tuned cabs = louder!

Many, many mango seasons ago (1980) our group moved to a bigger room and I "needed" a bigger amp. I had my Kasino(200W/2x15)but all the cool bass players had SVT/810 rigs so I hadda get one[blue line]. :meh: It was "OK"-sorta. But I never got the sound out of it that I expected, esp. after shelling out those $$$. Shoulda kept the bucks and used the Kasino.

Became a Rumble 800HD user last summer, replacing a TCE BH500 Red Rock. I wanted an affordable and smaller head capable of 2 Ohms. Very few are in that category: the Magalen 800 and MESA D800 would be fantastic, but many more clams.

Completely lovin’ the simple straight tones and musical EQ, tones easily found for my ‘74 Ric (rounds) and ‘14 G&L SB-2T (flats) playing gritty rock, ska, surf and soul.

The rig stays at the new band spot, so I just bought a great little Rumble 25 for home. Was dubious about a dinky 8” driver, but man the thing sounds fantastic, with V only at a quarter turn.

As a happy new Fender dude, I bought the Tshirt.

I too hesitated a lot when a guy wanted to trade in his D800 for my Rumble 800hd. I A/B'd them back to back for 45 minutes with my 4 basses. I decided to keep my Rumble.
D800 has no FX loop, no Aux in, no overdrive and the headphone jack is 1/4... sound is so clean its impossible to get that vintage grit out of it. It seems to put out less power too. Not looking back.
Maybe a D800+ would have made it...but still you cant get any grit out of it. The clipping ("overdrive") sound u get by boosting the Input button is disgusting in my opinion

That's awesome! Welcome to the club! I don't think I've played a bad V3 Rumble yet. I demo'd a few before going with the studio 40.

This is good to read about the D800. I can scratch it off the ‘lament list’. 8^)

Love it, Groovey! Now, to complete your Fender celebration, please post a pic of your Rumbles and get a Rumble Club membership number! ;)

Well then: here’s the 800HD in action last summer. It’s pushing air out of a GB 212T and an Eden 115 with a TCE SpectraComp. Sex Drugs & Lobster Rolls. View attachment 3767400View attachment 3767400

Awesome, Backy! @BackToTheGroove, you are now member #1208 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Please tell us more of your Rumble journey to the superpowered 800 HD and thence to the understated 25! You really seem to have spanned the gamut. And checkout the Rumble Club Wiki page, linked in my signature, including the TONE Pool of settings. And feel free to ask, or answer, questions or discuss whatever's on your mind.

But, BackTo, let's please reserve any discussion of "Sex Drugs" to Private Messages. Lobster Rolls, on the other hand, are always a delectable topic for the open forum. Then, too, we must, of course, . . . . .

Rumble On!

As long as you understand that it's not gonna sound like a big bassy amp, yeah. You'll hear notes, not tone.
So, it would be good for a beginner who is just starting and knows nothing about tone.
I agree. I quit playing for 13 years and got rid of all my basses and bass amps, so when I decided to play again I bought one of those packs and the Squier sounds horrible through it. There's like a weird vibraty sound when you play the Squier through it and I couldn't get rid of the noise, so I said forget this and went and got a US P-Bass and it sounds clear as a bell through the Rumble 15. I gave the Squier to my daughter.

Awesome! Where do you set the tone controls for each of those basses? Do you change them much for the various styles, or handle that with your playing?

I also started using my Zoom B2 again, only for one tone set (no mid song switching) different creation for each bass’s character.

The ‘74 Ric generally plays with more Gain (older pickups and less output than the G&L, which is monster and akin to active pups), more low/hi middle bass and treble. Each in the 9 to 12 o’clock range, no over drive (that channel is pretty good but it also seems to suck a bit of output when clicked on, even if low to no drive used just level up for a momentary boost accent). Bass pots all up full except the neck vol back a hair in order to get that bit more slice from the bridge (the Ric’s have that slight adjust weirdness or maybe it’s just my bass, but it’s cool and usable). Zoom is set to my ‘Dry SWR’ recipe. This Ric has never sounded better with this amp and above setting. It’s the ‘sound in my head’ finally. Fingers or pic (roll off both tone knobs a quarter with pic). Use this for gritrock and surfy-rockabilly stuff like The Love Me Nots and Huevos Rancheros.

G&L SB2Tb is for the thuddy, fat tone with the flats on. Gain back to 4 as with all the rest in order to get that tone. Bass’ spots are: Split-cool backed of in order not to over-drive and stay clean, single coil backed off and treble changes with the song need or if it calls for a pic. Zoom set to a ‘Tube-pre’ recipe which is fat and clear, crispy to taste with treble knob. Use this for the ska and soul stuff, Like Madness, Big Sugar and The Heavy.

Well that was a long answer!
