Fender Rumble Club

I would like to see a 500 combo with 4 ohm speakers that would give you the full 500 watts without a second cab. Can it be done? I don't know. It seems if you buy the 500 watt combo it's really a 350 watt amp (which absolutely kicks ass BTW) but still, a 500 watt combo should be a 500 watt combo. Otherwise, advertise it as a 350 watt amp.
Just putting that out there for discussion. As usual, I'm an idiot. You get used to it though. I know I have. :roflmao:

It's a 500 watt amp, but a 350 watt combo. If they aren't making that clear, they should be.

You could put 2 8ohm 10 inch speakers in there and it should make it a 500 watt combo. I wouldn't because you are stuck with the combo and can't add an extension cab due to impedance issues.

It would be cool if they put a switch in like those Hartke cabs that go from 8 to 4 ohms.

Yes, the On Stage RS7000 Amp Stand is height adjustable, but not tilt adjustable. I have one and it's worked great. A little heavier and bulkier than some others, since it doesn't fold up much, but some.

I also have the Musician's Gear Deluxe Amp Stand, which is functionally the same as the RS7000 but less than half the price. Same weight and capacity and foldability.

HTH
.
I ended up getting the Musician's Gear stand. I can't wait for it to come in! It looks like it will hold the 500c nicely.

Yeah, that's just one of the many cool things about the Rumble Stage 800!

Advertising is all about bigger numbers. They do let you know there is a possibility to add the second cabinet so it is not exactly false advertising, well, you feel it kind of is so yeah, sure @Miles_ONeal is right, it has to be made clear. In the end though, the additional cone area of the second cabinet is better than full 500W from the two inside. Both for additional volume if that is what you happened to be after and also because you could stack them vertically and get some of the volume closer to your ear level. Or, kind of like @bordinco90 said, if you already had the full 500W inside you'd feel you are missing the option of an extension cabinet for even more sound pressure...

They are clear about it both in the specs and the manual. But as I’ve said in another thread recently, most manufacturers rate combos in the same way, namely by power output at 4 ohms. I don’t think it’s a huge problem, really.

It really is a 500 amp. It means the amp can do 500w. The answer is yes, you could buy a 4 ohm speaker to get to the 500, but it would not be as loud as adding the extension cab because with the extension, you are moving more air. You have doubled the speaker surface area.

This exactly! Anyone remember the power ratings on the early hi-fi stereos? Peak watts? Huuuuuuuuge! RMS? Welp, not so much. But they never posted the RMS numbers. They tried to make it sound like they could drive the Dead's Wall Of Sound. Yup. For about a millisecond. Then MUCH smoke!

I really don't understand how this confusion about 500w vs 350w is still or ever really was an issue. I always read the specs on ANY amp that I buy, and always look to see if a combo has an output jack for an extension speaker...among many other things that I look for. I personally wouldn't buy a "gigging" combo that did not have the flexibility of adding an extension speaker.

Watts aren’t the best indicator of SPL anyway. The Rumble 500 combo at 350 watts is crazy loud, and capable of carrying a medium-sized club on its own, with no PA support.

As is the 200C. The very few times I was able to use the R112 with the 200C I was amazed by the extra(fullness, presence, ?). Not by extra volume. I actually had to turn down slightly so as to not drown out the guitarists(hee-hee).:smug:

When I was deciding on what Rumble combo to buy. I almost bought the 200C, but changed my mind due to wanting more watts (just in case).

That's been my experience. It doesn't really matter what the numbers are, it's plenty loud for the gigs I'm on. Having the full 500 watts available without an extension is purely vanity. It's kinda like how clothing companies size up their clothing so people don't have to buy XL. You can buy a medium even and feel skinny, even though you're actually wearing what would be considered an extra large.

Agreed. These are tools, not consumer electronics, and even with consumer electronics, some product research is required.

I know that there is not that much difference between 350 watts and the full 500 as far as measurable Sound Pressure Levels but I know when I added the second 210 things went to a new level. What if there was a 210 that could put out the 4 ohms? What would the world be like? Do you need the 2 cabs for the coupled sound, or can it be done with a 4 ohm 210??? Theoretical argument. Not based on facts, just a person whose mind has gone to mush during these trying times. I have taken the high road and my mind has turned to POLENTA. Just sayin.:woot:

Good point! Thanks. Man the 500 H sounds sweet with the 2 210s. But what if someone could invent a 210 that had the surface area of 2 210s. Like how there is 2 speakers but 2 VIRTUAL speakers, like with CPU chips.:roflmao:
Just being an idiot, love you guys.

There is no particular reason why a 210 combo couldn’t put out the full 500 watts, provided it had drivers to match. The thing is that the combo wouldn’t then be able to power a second cab, but would need a powered (active) extension cab. In fact, that’s exactly how the GK MB 212 I’ve been discussing in another thread works. Impedance isn’t really an issue, as this would basically be the same as connecting two combos together.

The coupling effect is not dependent on separate cabs, but relies on the drivers being stacked vertically. This is why you get it when the Rumble 500c is stacked on top of a 210 cab, but not when they’re placed side by side. So you would get the effect with a 410 with drivers stacked vertically, for instance.
