Fender Rumble Club

The other day I turned the gain off and just used my volume and any muddiness cleared up. I always thought you were supposed to have the gain up to hear anything but apparently you don’t. Kind of surprised. Very clear.
I was exactly today old when I learned this about the Rumbles! I too just assumed that 0 gain = actual -Inf gain like on all my guitar amps. I can't wait to get home from work and see what it sounds like.

Hi(gh), Sierra! :) We'd love to have you join us! Just post a pic of your Rumble, please, (the only prerequisite) and I'll mint you a bright, shiny, brand new membership number.

Yes, total consciousness is just one of the many perks of the venerable (now almost 7 year-old) R500c model. ;)
.
As you requested, thanks!

Hi folks, long time lurker. The info on this site led me to buy a Rumble 500 combo, and the one word that comes to mind is WOW! I haven't played in almost 40 years, but the days of lugging a 100+ pound base amp around are long behind me. This little marvel not only doesn't break my back, but it doesn't break the bank either. Couple that will a marvelous tone and plenty of oomph for gigging most clubs . . . I may have reached total consciousness before reaching my deathbed. May I join this wonderful Rumble Club you have going here?

As you requested, thanks!

Thank you sir!
A little background, I’ve been in instrumental groups a long time, but have not played any string instrument in a VERY long time. I played in cover bands in HS and when I first enlisted in the AF. I was fortunate enough to play and serve as the music director in ensemble groups that toured Europe when I was stationed in Italy, playing guitar, drums, bass, and keyboards while doing vocals (both lead and backup).

I last played in a cover band in 1983-85, playing blues with a 6 piece combo in the I-57 corridor from St. Louis to Champaign to Chicago. I was commissioned in the AF in ’85, left Illinois, and haven’t played a string instrument until the last few months. I've played low brass (tuba and euphonium) in various instrumental groups, both large and small since 2000, in Alaska, Texas, and here in NH. When offered the chance for early retirement this past spring I jumped at the chance, and am taking the time to devote to all the things that were important to me before my career interrupted.

Musically, I lean towards ’70’s- early ’80’s rock, country, blues, and classical. Personally I don’t think much good music has been written since about 1985, but there are exceptions to that ;-).

Awesome story my friend!

Hi, this is a repost since I couldn't post pictures before.
I just bought a new Fender Rumble Studio 40 on Amazon. I was surprise to see the price is cheaper in this country then on Sweetwater's site for $399.00 Fender Rumble Studio 1x10" 40-watt Bass Combo Amp
Amazon Jp. was this: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
I thought the amp would have been made in Vietnam, but it says "China". I've only plugged it in so far to see if it works and well some sound came out of it. LOL
Now I can say that the amp is light, the natural sound of the speaker is really good. For my ears, it seems to have a mellow, but pretty much full and enlightening tone to it. So I'm pleased with it so far. Not sure how far I'll take on the bells on it because I want my ears to hear the bass in natural form. The construction of the amp is fine. Well crafted and I'd even say somewhat in a custom type workmanship.
I don't have a music clip to post yet, but I hope to have some kind of practice log and ask for comments soon.
Now, lets see if I can post a clip of my new amp and new bass. I actually said, the hell with this corona economic collapse and buy what I want even though I'm without a job currently.
OK.

oh and of course my new bass ( by the way, fender basses on soundhouse jp are pretty much sold out, the ones under 400 bucks. I feel lucky to get one. And this color red is a high gloss, mellow and really pleasant to the eyes.

I see a little sadness in this case, or maybe some jealousy ( lol )

Hooray, pete! You did it! You uploaded pix of your Rumble & Bronco! Very nice! @bassville pete, you are now member #1269 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your signature for instant recognition as a bassist of distinction. Be sure to also visit The Club sub-thread for bass modeling amps Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 for modeling discussions unique to these amps. And checkout the Studio & Stage section of the Rumble Club Wiki page for helpful links and videos about these great amps.

And is that a Les Paul case for your Squier Bronco? Could be misleading?! How well does it fit? I'd sure like to see a pic of it inside, if you get a chance. Something very retro looking about that bass that I like.

And please tell us about yourself, pete. You're bound to find some kindred spirits here, since we have all kinds. But we all share a common love to ... . . . .

Have any of y’all used your Rumbles as a guitar amp? I have been looking into getting a guitar amp for awhile now but space and noise are a barrier (pretty small apartment). I love the headphone jack on my Rumble (thanks for the help earlier) so I wonder if any of y’all have messed around with a guitar. It would be awesome to not have to buy another amp right now.

Anything I should be worried about? Any chance of damaging the speakers? Any EQ tips? Thank you!

This question comes up occasionally, and there is no issue with using your Rumble as a guitar amp...many of us do. I have a Zoom effects processor I use with my Rumble 500c, and it sounds fantastic. Others use their Rumble without any effects or just with a pedal in front, and its all good. I'd suggest turning off the tweeter if your Rumble has one, but thats just my preference. Rock On!

What Thundar said. ^^^^ I've been playing guitar about 10 years longer'n bass and I dearly love the rich, full tones bass amps get with a 6 string. Maybe that's why the first Fender Bassman amps got to be known at least as much for guitar as for bass, if not more.
