Fender Rumble Club

Me! I’ve been meaning to play it outside to see whether or not it’s the combo.

Sorry to hear you're having similar issue. Mine now resolved - see answers to other Rumblers. Check all your cables and undo /redo. My room at home is not great, stuff does vibrate. I also wonder if a cable extension into the mains was contributing. Do you use the overdrive much? Cos I wondered if the circuitry/switch of that 'bleeds' the effect into clean signal somehow? My understanding of electrics is patchy.

I'd be interested to hear if yours persists/clears up....?

Thanks Eric. But only 1 bass and this amp. Plus lockdown in UK.

Maybe I should look inside. I checked the front of the speakers, all looked fine. Wondered if speaker had damaged as sounded so poopie.

Today, I unplugged ALL cables in my pedal chain & effects loop and tried the bass staight into the combo. Sounded better. Dodgy cable? So then connected up bit by bit and it all now sounds OK??!

Weird. Have had similar on rare occasions - messes with your ears/brain. Electrics still mystifies me.

Those Gremlins are early for Christmas this year! ;-)

Great you got it solved. (Un)plugging cables, even in a fixed setup can help sometimes.

Just another thought: maybe a (cheap) power adapter, fluorescent lighting, a microwave or other electric equipment causes interference. I have a cheap Chinese led strip in my home studio, when I power it up, I can hear additional noise coming from my Rumble.

thanks man. Yeah my main pc is a noisy old thing, so I turn that off. Only record on brand new laptop. Will keep in mind what else might interfere. But the noise I was getting sounded worse....like a speaker was blown or being overdriven. Strange. Happy rumbling !

One night on a gig in a small lounge, I was playing through my 2000 Bassman 25 when suddenly, silence. We finished the song and I tried changing the guitar cord. Nothing. Tried plugging into the 2nd(-6db)input. Nothing. Was about to go get the backup amp* outta my van. Turned off the B25, flipped it back on. Worked perfectly. WTH? That was 3 years ago, still works fine.

*Plenty of room in the van. I keep a[brand that begins with "P"**]MAX110 bass amp(100W/1x10")in there, JIC someone's amp takes a :poop: on a gig.
**I don't like that company's business practices. I have 2 old amps of theirs from b4 they 'changed'. They work, I'm not throwing them away.

I realized today that an entire wall is vibrating. I only noticed because I was using the full cable length and was out in the hallway.

I think I did that using MS Edge, but nothing showed up on my downloads so I logged in on the forum here on Chrome and was able to come up with google drive where the were. I used my Android to up load the pics to google drive account. I'll try something again. Hope someone can see the pictures then.
Thanks for your reply.

if you can only see it in one browser, it’s unlikely to be the browser. It’s something related to how the media is shared.

Right now, I can't see the pictures. It's a permissions issue. Either adjust the permissions settings so that everyone can see them, or download them locally and upload them here to TB.

yep. One of those.

Hey guys I just wanted some real world expectations for the Rumble 40 that I am buying around christmas time. I've never played through the 40, but I've played through the 100 and 500. How loud does the 40 get compared to say the 100? Thanks guys!
I've used mine for small restaurant/lounge gigs w/ 1 or 2 guitars and drums. No problem. It ain't gonna do Metallica, but neither do we.

I had a couple of questions about y'all's experiences with Fender Rumbles. I recently bought a used "mint condition" V3 500 combo from GC and it's seemed fine except for two issues. One is that there is frequent static/crackle when I adjust the master. The other is that the master seems to be super sensitive. I'm playing with my P bass volume dimed out, gain at noon, and there is basically no middle ground between comfortable practice level volume and "You can hear it from outside the house" volume. So, are these common issues? Based on some other threads, it seems like the static issue is pretty common on these amp and it's just a matter of time before most Rumble combo amp owners encounter it. I can still return the thing, but I got it for about $150 less than new and I like it a lot more than the Ampeg BA-115 I had been using.

8, my 6-1/2 year-old R500c has been rock solid with no extraneous noises and a smoothly escalating Volume knob the whole time. :smug: But, ... . . . .

=1118826']There have been some crackling Master Volumes of more, or less, annoying amounts related here. Some were minor and just ignored. Some were reduced by exercising the Master before turning on. Some cleaned up with DeoxitTM spray. And some got returned and replaced. :D

But, I don't recall the volume jump you are getting being a related probkem before. That does seem like a faulty pot, and reason to return for replacement. ;)

Please keep us posted. And post a Rumble pic to join The Club.

My master volume has some static only when I turn the knob while a note rings out. If I am not playing, it is silent. Yeah the 500 is not really a practice amp, but you can turn the knob down on your P bass (thats what I do when I'm practicing late at night) or turn your gain down. I plan on getting a Rumble 40 for my late night practices/small gig amp. The 500 is a really loud amp!
