Fender Rumble Club

And you are turning both gain and drive knobs to test it? Drive alone does not seem to do anything from what I remember. You also need enough gain. I no longer have a "traditional" Rumble to test this (got a Rumble Studio 40) so please someone more familiar with the controls do correct me if I'm wrong.
So when I tested it I definitely had gain, drive, and level at 50%. Definitely no distortion. I then turned the drive and level up to 75% but didn’t touch the gain so the game was still at 50%. It sounded generally terrible but definitely no crunchy distortion. Has anyOne else experienced problems with this?

Sorry, Kevin. That doesn't sound right to me. Try one more exchange.

Haven't been in this thread for a while. Happy New Year to all.

Been playing my 200c at church last few months (for very limited in-person and 'DI-out to live-stream' services). Playing with master at ~10 o'clock. WOW does it sound great, esp. with my Sire M2 5 string. Needed a couple low Eb and D notes last Sunday - made me smile all over. At our other location I used my Rumble 30 v2 and it was always plenty, even with the 5 string.
I had been gigging with my rock band with my 200c + Eden D210XLT - sounded awesome. That cab is heavy for me at this point in my life (it's a hair under 70 lbs).

Also noticed in that image from Reverb 2020 combo amp sales, there was no 200c listed - IMO that's because none of us wants to sell our 200c!! Love mine.
....Same lovin my 200 - had to inject a lil contact cleaner into the send n return inputs as it began to cancel out somewhat at practice - i was shocked - this amp never ever gave me any problem....Guitar player suggested I spray some contact cleaner - of course i didn;t have any with me - The drummer in whose house we rehearse had some - a quick shot in each input got me u p and running again, I was like, WOW! OK - So, I go out the next day to Ace Hardware - uh! $17.99 for a can of contact cleaner - Boy do I miss Radio Shack - Rumble On! BTW: Am betwixt n between the 500 n Stage 800 for my next purchase - GAS!

How did the gig go? Which bass did you take? ( oh, geez, do I sound like Frazer asking his buddy if he took the Bimmer or the Rover?)
Gig was a waste(4 customers, all band friends)but went OK. Took the 5er and the Epi EB-0(which never left the van). Was told the 5er sounded really good. I was right in front of the R40 so it was hard to hear what it sounded like to the room but I got compliments, so, awright.
Place doesn't advertise, but we got some more dates, so.....

I’m really considering trading some unused gear to get another Rumble 40. I love that little amp. Current rig is a Mesa D800+ with an Audiokinesis Changeling 212, and a Rumble 500 head with Rumble 210 cab. The rumble rig hangs just fine with the Mesa/AK rig despite costing 1/4 the price. But neither one is as convenient as a small combo.

Thx G-Dog am honored - Hey those two links are a bit confusing to me as far as navigating n looking for posters narrative as I would like to pose a question. Hope I am not out of place posting it here GDOG - Anywayz better to beg forgiveness than ask permission - Question: How do I use my Rumble 200 as a passive external speaker so to speak? IOWs - If I were to purchase the 800 or 500 could I use my R-200 as an external speaker to those two options? Or just as a passive extension speaker cab in general? Thx in advance

You would need to do something like my Rumble V3 100 mod.

Not an uncommon question at all Boomy. See in the Rumble Modifications section of the Rumble Club Wiki page the 2 mods called something like"Separating Combo's Amp and Speaker(s)" , the eric_B method is particularly good.

ps: Be sure yoir Rumble is out of the Rumble Modifications section before attempting such mods as they will void the Invalid Link Removed.

OK thx - I think I'll just run my lil Carvin MB15 ext cab - or my 210 hartke cab with 2 300 watt carvin eminences

I don’t have time to dig up my posts from way back in this thread, but my rumble 210 cab is basically the 500 combo with the head unit ripped out and the speakers wired to a speaker jack. The only issue you will run into is that the crossover on the combos is part of the head unit. So you won’t be able to use your tweeter unless you wire in a new crossover.

Quite sensible, Boom. The 15" in your R200c is rated for 300W continuous, just like that in the 115 cab, and would handle the 250W from a R500c just fine. But, it would necessitate some caution if used with the Stage 800 alone to prevent it seeing up to 400W there.

However, the Stage 800 can run two 8 ohm external cabs, which would reduce the power to 266W per cab. Or it could run a single 4 ohm 533W external cab.

HTH

You can do like I do, just daisy chain them. No modifications needed, and you also have a spare, very unlikely both would fail at the same time (not that a Rumble has ever failed me:))

Run a cable from the effect send of combo on the top (= master) to the effect return on the one below (= slave).
Turn on both combos. All the tone, volume and such adjustments you do on the master. The controls on the slave can be in any position.
Works fine with the 500 + 200 and gives you a 490 watt, 2*10 + 1*15 stack.

Don’t know if it works with the 800.

I should clarify that the reason I converted the combo into a cab rather than just slaving two combos together is that the head unit was faulty from the manufacturer. I worked at a music store at the time, and fender had us destroy the head unit and serial number. I was able to keep the brand new speaker cab free of charge.

I remember your journey with the 500 Combo that was broken and having to "disable it" in order to save it from the junk pile. Good for you and who needs a tweeter anyway ;)?

Quite right, Mv. Using the FX Return to bypass the preamp of a silver grilled Rumble combo turns it into a powered speaker running at full power, with volume (and EQ) controlled by the signal source. That is actually a very good alternative to physically modifying it into a switchably passive cab. Good call.

Well, we have previously found out that the Stage & Studio FX Sends work differently than those of the silver grilled Rumble combos, thus negating the Send/Return for Send/Input chaining for them.

But, though I haven't checked, I would expect the Stage & Studio FX Returns to work the same as their silver grilled siblings. It's just that the whole idea of bypassing the Stage or Studio preamp, with all its flexible voices, tonez & effects, is just so ... so ... (what's the word?) ... unthinkable! :woot:
