Fender Rumble Club

Does my humble 25 qualify for admittance to the club? Planning to add a 100 as soon as I can A/B with the Ampeg rb112.

Yes, cx. Yes, it does. @cxc, you are now member #1336 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TB Signature for safe keeping. And checkout our Rumble Club Wiki page for more Rumbling info. For your 100 shopping, you might start with this chart.

Here it is. Not bad nick for an 18yr old amp! The original owner was apparently an old jazzer who only played this one at home (no cats or dogs!). Still got the showroom sticker!!

Whoop! There it is! @SkyMonkey, you are now member #1337 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome to TalkBass in general and to The Club in particular. Put that number in your TB Signature for instant recognition as a bassist of distinction. See the V1 Rumbles in this section of the Rumble Club Wiki page and read about them in the Rumble Talks section.

For a club badge you must be thinking of the Combo Club, which you both qualify for! I dunno who gives out hats. We welcome you with a hearty handshake and best wishes, since you've already got the best available bass amps! ;)

cx and Sky, please tell us a bit about yourselves, your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular. You're bound to fit right in here 'cause we have all kinds who just love to ... ...

Rumble On!

So... It turns out Talkbass doesn't give me GAS. Not having access to Talkbass gives me GAS.:roflmao:

I just got this today in a trade for my Ray5 and 2 pedals

But because I sold a bunch of gear (and I'm only half way done) I did a little digging on the Long and McQuade website. They had this "used" Jazz Bass and now Monday it's getting shipped to me.:bassist:

Thank God Talkbass is back. If the outage kept up I might have gone even more crazy!
2NBD: Apparently Talkbass doesn't give me GAS | TalkBass.com

For anyone interested from the last post. They're both here and the Rumble loves them both!:hyper::bassist:

The Ibanez is either clean or moderately overdriven. There's just too much power with the OD to tame! The Jazz sounds soooooo good with the vintage and OD both on. Gain and drive at 0, B 11, LM 11, HM 3, T 1:30 for fingers; pump the bass up to 12 for pick. Though with a pick it goes from very smooth to very aggressive. I love it!

New-ish Rumble Owner

Hey all. I’m fairly new to the forum and just found out about this. I have a Rumble 100 V3. I love the weight, the sound, and the price! It’s amazing what you can get for $300 these days! My only wish is that it was made in the USA (and am generally disappointed with the offshoring of all my favorite drum/guitar/bass brands from the US and UK), but then it probably would have been twice the price! A tuner output would have been nice, as well.

I play a CIJ 60s Mustang Bass RI into a Korg DT-10 into the Rumble with Bright and Vintage engaged, gain maxed, and EQ around 11:00/11:00/1:00/1:00. This allows me to go from a Jamerson tone to an edgier, modern tone just by riding the tone knob on my bass.

Future Plans - I’m looking to add an Acme Motown DI at some point for “the Motown sound”. I also want to add a compressor in the FX loop. I’m still making up my mind between a Keeley Pro, 160a, or one of the older Joe Meek optical comps. I’d also like to get the tuner off the floor and always on. Has anyone tried modding the footswitch jack to be a tuner output instead, maybe jumpered off the input?

Do I get my fancy number yet? :D

Hey, 'Stang, man! Good to hear from you.

Yep, you have some great ideas to improve the Rumbles, like many of us do. Unfortunately, most of them would raise the price, or maybe even the weight! :woot: So, Fender makes the Bassman line of great bass amps with lots more bells & whistles, for those abled to pay a bit more. As for getting your tuner off the floor, and always on, why not just put it between the bass and the amp input instead of risking some dicey rewiring and voiding the warranty?

Say, 'Stang, how 'bout you post a photo of your Rumble, like other new members do, while I rustle up that fancy new number for ya? :smug:

Looking to upgrade my Rumble 40(v3) to a R100(v3). My R40 is just a bit under powered to keep up with the band. Getting ready to pull the trigger this weekend, getting tired of hauling my gig rig for practices. I tried one of the new Peavey Max 100's last week and was not impressed, I think my R40 sounds better and has more output. Thinking that the extra 60w and a 12" speaker will add the little bit of extra the R40 lacks at practice volumes (plus it's only going from 18 to 22 lbs).

P____ tends to advertise their amp's wattages at peak. Another of their practices I take a dim view of.

Plus, tothe, you could chain the 40 & 100 together to get the same power as the 200 thru a 10" & 12" instead of a single 15"! The FX Send of the 100 could go to the instrument input of the 40* to control each amp separately. Or the XLR Out of the 40 could go to the FX Return of the 100 to let your settings on the 40 control the 100! Either way would be a great little stack.

*No, the XLR Out or the FX Send of another Rumble going to a Rumble instrument input will not harm either amp.

Ya know, I hadn't tried that. Hmm. Might be worth a shot.
I've done100>200c and 200c>100 efx send/receive, but not this^.

That's a UK-made Laney LT5 112 w/ Greenback under the cover (before Laney and Celestion shipped their manufacturing off to China).

I just found the mod wiki...omg. I'm so doing the Blackface mod (minus the knobs, I rather like these) and am going to add poly fill to the cab. I might try sealing off the port with gaffers tape too to tighten it up a bit. As for the tuner out question, I want to go minimal as possible in the signal chain before the preamp. The DT-10 has a buffer built into it that I want to bypass. I'm not worried about the warranty, as I can fix anything solid state. I've built guitar pedals for years and am handy enough with a soldering iron! If I do end up performing the mod, we definitely need to add it to the wiki! I'll make sure to document it with pictures .

I know, just get a true bypass tuner...but I like keeping it on all the time and besides, I'm thinking I might eventually want to add a 6U rack if I ever start gigging out again to house my Furman PL-8, a KORG rackmount tuner, a Joe Meek or 2a clone compressor, and a drawer for extra strings/cables/etc. Maybe I'll have the Motown DI by that point and can house that in there, as well.

Yeah, 'Stangy! @MustangMan78, you are now member #1338 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TB Signature for safe keeping and to be instantly recognized as a bassist of distinction. So, you've found our Rumble Club Wiki page and it's Rumble Modifications section, eh? Helpful, much?

M-Man, you've definitely got the confidence to do great things! Yes, please keep us apprised of your Rumblings by sharing for others to enjoy and revel in. Tell us a bit more of your background, M-Man. You'll fit right in as we have all kinds here. But we all do so love to ... ...

Tell us a bit more of your background, M-Man. You'll fit right in as we have all kinds here.

I'm a career drummer/percussionist and have been playing since 4th grade. I took up guitar my senior year of high school and apart from a few beginner classes in college, am self-taught (with the bad habits to prove it). I also sing and play a bit of keys and Irish whistle. I picked up the bass several years ago, but only recently committed myself to learning how to play more than just root notes. As I mentioned, I've been building and modding guitar pedals for years and am a self-professed tone snob. I learned a bit of the Air Force school of electrical engineering from my father, who came from the tube to solid state conversion era in the 60s.

For my day job, I'm a software engineer...but can't stand digital anything when it comes to instruments/amps/effects. It's just way too sterile. I'm also a part-time EMT for a large hospital network here on the East Coast.

Now, I am confused...;).

Discrete electronics are the only way to go! My friend just got a Marshall modeling amp...let's just say I wasn't impressed. I get the whole modeling and digital effects thing. Having access to all those different sounds could be appealing in the right context. The problem is they just don't do any of them well. I will say, however, I've heard some pretty good Kemper clips. It's coming close to challenging my philosophy. The price and looks though...ugh!
