Fender Rumble Club

... ... Also, rumblers, I have posted a thread in the amps and cabs section, if any of you are interested in chiming in. Thanks everyone! :)

That's cool, Kat. I get GAS, too, so I understand where you're coming from.

Meanwhile, without any tools, you could try putting some socks or something in the port of your Rumble to see if that might help the sound a bit. The 15, 25 40 & 100 don't come with any acoustic lining in the cab like the 200 & 500 do. And, sometimes, adding some makes a big difference.

Also, the Rumbles do have built-in compression, called Delta-Comp. Because it automatically adjusts to your playing that's one of the reasons there's no peak light needed.

If you keep the 100 you'll still be one of us. ;)

There's a lot of cool stuff out there (I spent all yesterday looking at it lol). It's most important that you end up with gear that's going to work for you. Good luck on your amp journey!

That's the bottom line, BBass, your gear has to work for you. TB is full of opinions in every different direction about every little thing, and it doesn't hurt to ask about things. But, in the end, only you are responsible for your own happiness. And no one can rightfully hold that against you.

For all those bassist who think I just need to feel the low B...
I went to the NHRA drags yesterday. I don't know what note a(2) 10,000hp nitro engine makes, but I do know that they said on the P.A. that they measured 127db in the front row of the seats. I was standing in front of the first row. :D It makes all your innards jiggle.

I bet! I've not been in person but I've seen many drag days on the YouTubs. The cars are often as cool as they are loud.

Nice - went to a NASCAR race at Bristol. Apparently it can reach 140 db’s, and the aluminum stands hum. I had ear plugs in and thought they were falling out - nope, was a mistake removing one to check. I then put on the ear muffs for extra protection.

Cool! And interesting bass, too. What is it exactly? A sort of Frankendyne with a fretless jazz neck, HiMass bridge and EMG pickups?
You got it. Always wanted an Aerodyne and finally found an unloaded body by chance. So I installed a fretless Jazz neck I had for another project. Then removed the EMG pick ups and controls from a PJ project bass that I never bonded with. I wanted the off white pups to match the Aerodyne binding but they are a little too bright. Anyway the EMG's have a strange sound/effect that's hard to explain. It's kind of like a light static. So I may install the set of Aguilars I have in a box. Not sure yet.

BTW the Rumble sounds best played thru the only stock Jazz I own. I think it's really sensitive to active electronics and I'll have to work with it some more. I wish it had an active channel like many others do. But I am getting attached to it the more I use it.

We had quite a few gigs last year and early this. We also lost 65 gigs that were booked as of last February. As of now we have about 4 gigs b4 October. One this AM @ 9.
Beginning May 21 we have 17 gigs booked thru August which is about half of what this band usually gets during the summer months. But it's a good start.

With my one active bass I gots to run the GAIN at ~8-or less.

I like how you think!!! I did a quick Google search. Where does one find custom grille colors?
My guess is you'd have to buy the cloth and install it yourself or have someone else do it. While I've not done it before I've seen it does and it's just a matter or remove the old cloth, cut a new piece, staple it to the frame, put some velcro pads back on it and the Fender logo back in place and bam! Gold grille.:)

I wonder if there's a bad solder or pot with the EMGs if they're producing a kind of static. That sounds to me like there's a wee bit of electricity getting where it shouldn't. On the other hand Aguilars are awesome too so it's not like it'd be bad to switch. The white does look really cool though.

I really don't have an issue with my active basses. I do run my Rumble with the gain zeroed out now a days and before used to run it between 9 and 12 o'clock. So perhaps that's the trick. I don't like it's tone past 12, it starts to do some compression and while I never found it boxy it does seem to make my tone feel fatter but in a bad way. Not like a beefier bottom but like the sounds being stretched a bit. Not big changes but it moves the tone in the wrong direction for me.

The Gain control takes the place of multiple inputs on the Rumble amps.

I guess I did’t realize the Gain affected the signal without the Overdrive engaged, just assumed it was out of tje circuit unless the switch was engaged. I will have to play with it. I currently tend to use that and the footswitch like GP, a mute....
