Fender Rumble Club

I have a bigger Markbass rig, but I love my 100 too. Great amp. 2 years of gig service, still a faithful rehearsal amp. I’ve found with vintage and a tilt-back wedge stand, I can squeeze a little extra oomph out of it.

BTW, did you decide on the “100w w/ PA support” dilemma? Or does that remain to be seen?

I did. I've decided that for the outdoor gigs I'll just continue to use the 500/115. Works fine. I have a little fold up cart that really works well. I do believe that for most of the indoor gigs I've had in the past and now going forward though, that the 100 will suffice. .. If not......well. Idk.

thanks for the tip too.

I work for a global electron company. Years ago we could buy "B stock"--stereo equipment that had been returned by customers--at a great price. The bean counters decided it to be more cost efficient to sledgehammer the gear and discard it. Blame the bean counters. They suck.

Yes, indeed! In my technical career I also encountered many instances where the balance sheet forbid repair and the legalities ruled out sale, or even gifting, as junk! Thus the inevitable waste. :bored::sour:o_O

I'm so stoked by the tone of my Rumble 100 amp. Its not the. loudest on the block but its really got a great tone. I mean its loud enough for me and probably most of the small places I play in too. I wonder if it's the 12 inch speaker that sounds that good. I've got the 500/115 set up too and its very loud but the tone doesn't compare to the R100. Anyone else find this to be the case with their experience with the 100?
After some more A/B-ing I can also comment by saying that R100 has a more muffled sound at the same volume and with the same settings. That doesn't mean it sounds muffled. Just in direct comparison to the 115 side by side. Maybe tighter sounding? So the 115 has a more open sound but also seems to include a little bit of overtone. Not so tight. I had to see if the tweeter was in the 'on' position on the cabinet but it was not.

What a bloody waste!! Just because it's convenient for the company, this crap should not be allowed. A repairable amplifier is now destroyed pile of garbage destined for the landfill instead of being repaired.

Sorry, moderators. I have dismounted from my high horse, now.
I'm sure that this is horribly cynical of me, but I think if Fender let people keep the "broken" amplifier,sa many would find ways of taking advantage of the warranty system: bogus claims, selling out parts, etc.

And, without this wasteful policy, our litigious society would actually file suits against Fender for not preventing DIY repair-attempts that resulted in electrocutions! I've seen more frivolous things. :rollno:

Well, my Rumble 500c continues to impress. Our first gig in what must be a year by now, though we did sort-of practice outdoors at a place a few weeks ago. But this was an honest, PAYING gig! Woohoo! I posted a short gig report so the pic below is probably redundant, but you can just see the Rumble behind me up on a stand. Stage was kinda ridiculously small for a 5 piece with full drum kit, but we made it work. As always, I recorded all on a little Tascam hand-held recorder and I must say our mix was actually good! When I started playing with this band, you could barely hear the vocals over the too-loudness. But somewhere along the line we've really worked that out. No feedback, vocals clear as a bell. I tell you, though the Rumble put out more than enough at about 11:00, I think another key part of the sound is mic-ing that bass drum. I've told the band I wouldn't play out without it anymore. That THUMP of the bass drum just punches my bass lines through so nicely.

Now, granted the owner did ask us to turn down about 2 songs in. (not surprised there, esp. in this relatively small space.) But we must have done well because he kicked in an extra $150. We had a great turnout and I really think I earned more from the tips than from the actual gig $. We did bring in a pretty sizable group on our own, which was gratifying.

But damn I love that little amp. I cannot imagine playing without it anymore. It just does it's job perfectly every time. Let the guitar players have their finicky antique tube amps - I'll take lightweight, reliable Fender Class D bass power any day. And I've decided that I'll no longer care about adding an extension. I simply won't ever need it.

And here, for the first time ever, is a picture of me on TalkBass (excepting one from 1975) Oh, I don't normally wear a Hawaiian shirt. We were technically hired by a guy throwing a party there with a tropical theme. At least we all refused to wear cargo shorts!

My goodness, bw, that's a very nice looking Stage 800 (is it?). @bwgiddens, you are now member #1356 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Please put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. And, as I just posted, please checkout your Rumble Club Wiki page for all assembled Rumbling wisdom and knowledge. Make yourself at home here for discussing any Rumble generalities.

But, for discussing any Rumble bass modeling specifics please post in your Rumble LT25, Studio 40 & Stage 800 club sub-thread, in order to spare our non-modeling Rumble brethren & sisteren those technical complexities. Mm'kay?

Say, bw, how 'bout telling us a bit about yourself, such as your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular? Whatever your situation you're bound to fit right in here since we have all kinds. But we all shall a love to ... ... ...

Thanks! Yep, that’s a Rumble Stage 800! I’ve been playing bass for about 25 years. I’ve tried several different types of amps (ampeg, carvin, bassman, etc), but just recently got my first Rumble. I’m thoroughly enjoying it!
