Fender Rumble Club

Has anyone here who has and plays a Rumble 200 ever found themselves a little under powered whether with an extension cab or not?

Not me, of course I haven't played out for 1/2 a century so that could have something to do with it . The past year is another story. I couldn't play out even if I wanted to. So, I am the wrong person to ask. But I am still hopeful and listening for other's experience.

If the neighbors 2 doors down complain about my playing but the neighbor 3 doors down does not, I'm not loud enough. But my R200 is not turned all the way up so there's plenty more where that came from.

Why can't you play out?

I hung up bass in the early 70's because soul and R&B was no longer popular. I was tired of working a day job and clubs at night...really tired. I decided to concentrate on a day job, got married, got a mortgage, raised kids and started my own business.

After retiring a few years ago, COVID and COPD came my way. So, here I am, trying to re-learn what I have forgotten and not really able or wanting to play out. So, I am recording and playing at home...waiting for the odd jam to open up (after COVID) and maybe play with some real people some day.

I am having fun and have met some great people here on TB. Maybe one day I will play out.

That's my story and I am sticking to it...hope that answers you question ;).

Yeah man!! Definitely. I can see how you'd not even want to play out. The magic is still there. Keep playing. Right?

So yet another change in plans. I get to the gig/jam with my 1967 Gibson TBIRD NR and 200c only to find a pair of 100's daisy chained waiting for me. 200c back in the gigmobile, played through the 2x100's. They sounded very good but mine woulda been gooder for the room. Picked up another gig with these guys 6/4. I'm taking the 200c and will let them know thanks, I'll play mine.

You know what gear I always find disappointing? Some one else's.

You know what gear I'm never disappointed with? Mine. So I get ya there. I've played some really nice rigs at jams and every time wanted my own amp.

Not a Rumble 200 (140W alone), but my Bassman 250 (full 250W) 1x15" combo was often not quite enough for my l-o-u-d country cover band. (One reason I can't believe more Rumble 200s aren't in this spot.)

That's when I targeted the Bassman 500 with a 1x15" cab (350W @ 8 ohms). I was a 15" fanboy, but the Rumble 500 (350W alone) caught my eye and looked too good to be true. I ordered the Rumble 500 fully intending to trade it back for the Bassman when, not if, I found the catch. But, it lived up to it's advertising! I still got the Bassman, anyway, but it mostly stayed home while the Rumble made more gigs! Even the few times I added the 115 cab to the R500c, it wasn't really needed!

Quick question: how much weight can I safely put on a rumble 115 cab? Can I put an ampeg pf-210 cab and pf500 head on it?

Dog to dog, I dunno 'bout the R115 cab, but my lightweight R500 combo has supported most of my 250 lb.s (the sitting part) several times with no ill effects. I hate when I forget to bring my armless folding stool and all the available chairs have arms. (I really need that back support.) HTH

The 2x100's were already set up where I'd need to be. It wasn't worth f---ing* with moving them.
