Fender Rumble Club

With all these stack pics being posted, figured I'd take one of my Studio 40 with my Stage 800.

Finally updated my avatar.

Awesome, R! I remember your stack pic not too long ago, too. Man, you're really fixed up for both Stage & Studio, puns intended. :D Now all you need is the matching 210 cab.

Well my replacement for the rumble 100 came to me today. Here is the comparison

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the rumble club members. You have all been kind and welcoming as well as very informative, so thank you for all the info and funny stories :)

My rumble 100 will be up for sale! Im sure someone will find it to be very useful.

My R100 is collecting dust. With both a Studio 40 and R200 with 2x10 cab, I just don't use it. However, it looks good holding up the Studio 40 and could come in handy for a friendly jam session.

Yeah, a 210 cab would be awesome. Maybe I'll even need it someday. We are planning some outdoor gigs soon, but my Stage should be enough. Then again, enough is never really enough. :D  :bassist:

I often think I'd like 'bigger'. Then I remember who hasta carry this[stuff]. R200c is as far as I go.

That is totally lovely, Lovey! I was just about to ask you for a Rumble family portrait. Thanks! :smug:

This man deserves a Rumble Club Membership Number!

Sorry, RL, but we try to only issue one number per member and LoveJack already has #1093, though he hasn't (yet) added it to his TalkBass Signature.

If we issued a new number for every individual rumble cab or combo, we'd run out before long. Although I personally only have 2, many Rumblers have 3, 4, or even more!! Man, that's a lotta Rumblin'!!!

I was so excited for this to come out I pre-ordered it. When it was released and arrived I eagerly plugged in. In my opinion the only
Mode that is usable for us bassist is when all the effects are all off. I called Fender and asked them if their would be update in the near future for us bassist and she told me there were no plans. So back it went. Too bad. It actually worked well and sounded good. For a guitarist. Why did they leave us out?!
BTW I had the Rumble 100 and traded it in. I’m not against Fender. I have a Fender American Performer Mustang that I love. I have the Rumble 25 that sits next to me at night in my living room. It’s great for the living room. Actually took that to a guitar jam last week, no drummer, and it sounded great there too. The Markbass CMD 102 2x10 is my main rig now and I have a 15” Ampeg cab.
I’m excited because my new GK112 Ultra comes tomorrow! New gear day! 30 lb combo with 200 watts. They have been back ordered. Just came back in to stock a few days ago at Sweetwater. Made in USA. I like that.
I have been reading this forum here for quite a while now and always appreciated the great resource it is. This is my first post as an official member.

Sorry to hear that, Mikie, ... uh, ... but, ... uh, ... just what is this/it you're talkin' about here, please? I mean, I think I could guess, but I might be wrong.

That's great, Mike! Post a pic of your Rumble and get an official Rumble Club membership number and keys to the repository of assembled Rumbling wisdom and knowledge. Meanwhile I'll be digging out the membership roll getting ready for you!

Like...someone would get issued infinity and that would be the end?

Thanks for the membership offer! I was actually responding to someone who posted about the new Fender Micro guitar amp. Sorry I thought it would be clear what I was responding to. My Fender Rumble 25 with my Fender American Performer.

Ah! Simply beautiful rig, Mike! @Michael Favata, you are now member #1158 in the Fender Rumble Club. Congratulations and welcome. Put that number in your TalkBass Signature for safe keeping. And see your Rumble Club Wiki page for all the Rumble info you could ever hope to find.

I thought you were talking about the Fender Mustang Micro, alright. Some here like it, though, but agree it needs a Rumble setting. Speaking of Mustangs, I simply love, love, love the American Performer!! You should post that pic in the Fender Mustang Club and join there, too. For that matter, your Rumble also qualifies you for the Combo Club, a bunch of fun bassists.

So, tell us a bit about yourself and your bass experience in general and your Rumble journey in particular, if you will. Whatever your situation, you'll fit right in 'cause we have all kinds here. But we all love to ... ...

Rumble On!.

Actually thanks to set theory and many associated things (which in some cases involved inventing notations) we've accidentally (and then purposefully) proven that there's an infinity that's bigger than infinity. Which means there could be all kinds of different levels of it. What they look like or how you notate them is anyone's guess. (Math is an interesting mistress.)

So eventually you'd reach Rumble (does anyone know how to make an infinity symbol? Why don't keyboards have these?) and then it'd be like +1, +2 +3...

We could always allow for Rumblers to self-amend-and-track their amount of Rumbles by putting it after a decimal point. So for me it'd be Fender Rumble Club Member #912.2 for my Rumble 500 head and 210 cab. Someone like G-Dog is going to have a much bigger number after that decimal point and others will just be .1 but it's a thing that could be done!

I actually think we're going to get a Rumble Micro. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that all the modeling Rumbles and the Mustang amps use the same ARM-based SoC or DSP. I'm not saying they do but I don't see why they wouldn't. It would likely cost more to redesign one for the Mustang Micro than they'd ever get back.

If we assume the bass and guitars need specific "preamps" and that the Micros would require another new design as well then there's the answer why we don't have a Rumble version. But I feel like it's odd we'd have the Mustang Micro at all in this case. Also we'd have to ignore the fact that the Mustang Micro actually sounds really good on bass with the studio preamp. Not to mention the LT amps. Those make very little sense to me from a business perspective if they come with the full R&D cost.

So the most likely scenario is that it's just a case of a programmer needing to adopt their current models and effects to the new interface and then stick them in.

And if it's all that easy than what Fender can do next year is release the Rumble Micro. Just start having the factory print Rumble instead of Mustang on the current lineup on weekends and stick that piece of firmware on it. Heck Fender could even be really cool and allow you to swap firmware between Rumble Micros and Mustang Micros effectively giving everyone access to both but not at once.

And that's what I suspect is going to happen. It makes a lot of sense both for reasons I outline below and the fact that they almost certainly want to do a bass version right. Fender doesn't leave us bassists behind! Anyway you can ignore or continue my essay below:

I know I would have preordered my Mustang Micro if that was an option but I doubt they sell like hot cakes. My YouTube analytics do show it's got increased interest but not in such a way I feel point to anything other than I'm one of the few people who have videos of running a bass through one. So I suspect Fender wouldn't have made this device if they weren't able to reuse a lot of existing tech.

Which doesn't at all seem crazy to me. Almost every piece of technology that isn't top-end is actually just the bits that weren't good enough to be sold as the high end gear. My CPU for instance is an old Intel i5 6600k. Which means the chip itself was actually really high quality for a consumer grade chip but it failed hyperthreading validation so it couldn't become an i7. And it was destined to be a consumer chip because of that but it does seem power efficient enough for a server. Which is kind of funny but that happens. Intel's loss was my gain!

My Sennheiser HD558 headphones are just the HD598 that had foam stuck to the insides of the grilles to make them sound worse. Took out the foam and bam $300 headphones for $100.

My Nintendo Switch Lite is the same inside as my Sister's full Switch, minus some battery, a video output chip, and a totally different outside. And it was literally half the price. And the examples just go on and on and on. It's the cheaper way to do things, and I'd say the better way as well. It'll ensure higher quality throughout your whole range of products while avoiding waste from high-end production.

Which leads me back to my theory that this is what the Mustang Micro is. Fender's been using these chips for years now and nothing that I know about them suggests you can't run the entire preamp off a battery and control it with 9 buttons and a knob. So we'll probably get a Rumble Micro in the future. I'm sure COVID will have delayed it but I'd be shocked to find out that I'm way off on all this and it'd just not be worth the cost; thus not happening.
